BLT - Standard vs Lake View

Hi! We've never stayed at BLT and were going for 1st time in January. Right now we have a 1 BR lake view and we're wait listed for a 1 BR standard view. It's a 23 point difference (which won't make or break us) but I can't decide if I should just drop the waitlist and enjoy the lake view? What is a standard 1 BR view over there?

It will be me, DH, DD5, DS5. They aren't HUGE fireworks fans, so that chance of the lake view giving us a peek at fireworks isn't that enticing.

We just switched over from AKL and I haven't even really researched BLT, but I know you guys will have some good thoughts for me.

Had a 1 bedroom SV at BLT before this year's member cruise. We were on the first floor with a view of vegetation and the path leading to the pool. It was a very convenient location as far as I was concerned. Firework viewing is important to me, so we just went to the TOTW lounge!

Because lake view uses more points, if your wait list comes through near your travel time, you will have points in holding. So, if you do not want that, just be sure you mark that the waitist expires 31 days out.

We did 31 days out, just for that reason! Just can't decide if we should save the points (if waitlist comes through) or just enjoy lake view. We are trying to work our way through the DVC resorts, still need VGF and WL, so I'm not sure when we will be back to BLT...

I have had lake view once, and decided SV was good enough for me! I had a view of the marina. One problem for me was the night parade on the water's music woke us up.

Standard views are standard for a reason. In Disney's world they give a room the highest rated room category that they can so if it's standard you won't see much. There will always be an exception where there may be a better standard view but unless you can't afford the points, why risk it?

If you are at all particular about view, standard isn't the way to go. There are some great standard views. Most lake views are quite beautiful. I prefer standard for the point savings, and that was our reason for buying blt. Just the same, there's nothing wrong with being "stuck" with a lake view when that's all that's available. Whatever you decide, enjoy!

My vote would be to keep the Lake View. In my opinion, Lake view is the best option available at BLT. If you request a Lake view room on the North side of the tower, you get a fantastic view of not only the MK, but also Bay Lake. This sure beats the "standard" view, and in my opinion, is much better than the more-expensive Theme Park View, which overlooks MK, but also the vast BLT parking lot.

The issue is simply one of height. Best views are from higher floors, and all standards are on lower floors (no higher than fifth floor and most on first to third). If you have lake view and request high floor and get that request, you will have a significantly superior view than from any standard room.

we've enjoyed the lake view both times we've stayed at BLT -- both high up with a good view of the electric parade at night.

Take the Lake View. We had one in May and lucked out with a castle view as well!!

I deactivated my standard view wait list and I'm sticking with the lake view. To have a chance at castle view too I should request a high floor on the north side?

Yes! Good luck with getting the view you want. I also liked the marina/lake view at the south side of the resort.

That is correct. North side of the tower, high floor. You won't regret this decision, especially if the room request is honored! Just keep in mind that the request is just that. There is no guarantee that you will get what you request, although in my experience, I find that my requests typically do come through.

You should be able to ask them to place it under the notes section. Many CM's know to do this but if you get one following the standard requests then that doesn't seem to be an option.

There is an awesome thread on here. Search "bay lake tower rooms and views". I just stayed at BLT (got home Saturday). I would have gladly paid for a theme park view but there were no rooms for my pin. Anyway I found that thread and saw that there were some standard views in which I could see the fireworks from my room. From that thread I saw that 7220, 7320, 7420, 7226, 7326, and 7426 were all 1 bedroom standard views in which you could see the fireworks. I stayed in 7220 and it was perfect.

We've just return from a stay in a lake view studio on the fifth floor - it felt like an identical view to our stay in a standard view the year before

I know that from now on I will be booking a standard view if I can get one or a MK view for special occasions
