BLT Standard View What are my Chances??

I am hoping to book 5 nights at BLT standard view for the end of October. What are my chances of getting that only this far out??

Not likely. Those go pretty fast and many who own there had to wait list for that view, even if the home resort booking period. And, according to the availability board, most Oct dates are being reported as being not available when they called MS.

I would guess not very good, I believe standard view is only like 12% of the resort and MK is only like 18%, much more of the resort is lake view. The odds of being able to get lake view are much greater.

We got 1 1BR Lake View for Mother's Day weekend on about 6 weeks notice this year.

I called for our October studio right at the 7 month window, and MK and Lake View were available. I waitlisted for standard, and that has come through.

They may not have the room available now to book. But if you waitlist you might get it as they declare more rooms into inventory. My guess is that is adding rooms into availability under the 11 month and even 7 month windows.

My 2 cents.

So DW and I own at BLT. We are now to the point in our long term planning where we can book 11 months out, ensuring an escape every 5 - 8 months.

I booked our May 2011 trip at 11 months out (almost to the minute) and got a Studio Standard view to ensure we had a place to stay and use the fewest points.

Now at the 7 month point, we will be altering our ressie for a split stay at VB and hopefully BWV, and will most likely give up our S-Standard. Therefore, a Standard will become available for someone on the wait list.

With so many different DVC'ers with unique situations and vacation plans, one can never tell when a 'Standard' will show up. I am currently wait listed for BWV in Dec, and the MS advised me to stay on the wait list, as a lot of cancellations occur right before the 31 days out point, as members do not want to have their points go into 'holding' and risk losing them.

I don't think there are very many rooms in that category -- it doesn't take much for that building to have a "lake view" for the rooms that aren't MK. And I think it may be the most popular category, because it's fewer points. It's certainly worth a try -- you might get lucky -- but do have a back-up plan. (Somewhere someone posted how many rooms were in which category, in the early BLT days, but, sorry, don't remember where that was).
