BLT point question

We bought into BLT last week while on vacation and had asked our guide about point increases - do the number of points required for a particular room increase year to year (asked two separate occasions). He indicated that they do not - that it's a zero sum game. Dates within the seasons may change from year to year (due to holidays), but the sum of all points remains the same. We received a 2009 point chart, but not a 2010. I found the 2010 point chart on another site and it does look like points have gone up (about one point per room/view) for next year. Can I assume that this is typical? We're just trying to budget points for a large family trip in early 2011 and want to make sure that we are estimating correctly.

Thanks!

What DVC did for 2010 was to reallocate points. They raised the weekdays and lowered the weekends. If they raise points somewhere, they have to lower them so that the total number of points for the year is the same.

If you look at the 2009 and 2010 BLT charts, you will see that the weekly totals went up a tad for some seasons and rooms, down a tad for others. The total points for a year for all rooms stayed the same. What they mainly did is a major shift lowering weekend points and raising weekday. It is the second time they have done a point shift, the first occurred in the early 1990s when there was only OKW. Such shifts could happen again in the future but you should not expect them annually.

Thank you! I created a spreadsheet using the 2009 and 2010 point tables and must have entered something incorrectly!
