BLT or BCV

We are staying for a week in mid-Sept. Currently have BLT 2 bedroom. It will be me and my 11yo dd and 8 yo ds. The kids want to do all the parks and have resort/pool days. We've never stayed at BLT but have stayed at all the other DVC resorts. I love BCV and all the activities but wanted chance to stay at BLT...Is BLT worth it or should I try to go back to BCV?

How long are you going for?

Is a split stay possible? Book 3-4 nights first at BLT, then book the remaining nights at BCV. This will let you "dip your toe" in to the BLT pool. This way, if you find you don't end up enjoying BLT, you'll know that you won't be that far away from being at BCV. If you do end up liking BLT, then you can take full advantage.

I haven't stayed a BCV yet, so I can't compare the two resorts. I do know that I LOVE BLT. I plan on trying BCV next year by doing a split stay.

Since you are a member and have many years to enjoy all of the resorts, I would keep BLT and save BCV for another time.

Split stays are OK if you have a really long stay planed but moving the family, checking out and in, moving the luggage and waiting for the room to be ready can eat into your day. Plus you have to build a new nest which is too much work when you are on vacation.

I have stayed at both BLT and BCV in 2 bedroom villas. Both are terrific. I think I would stay at BLT, it seems like the points are comparable. It's very close proximity to MK and access to Epcot via the monorail is an asset with kids. I think you can also pool hop to the Contemporary, WL and Poly. Not sure about GF.

We are staying for a week and could split the stay but I've done that before and it's a lot of extra work, especially this year when I'm probably going to be the only adult. My ds loves the monorail so I think he'll really enjoy BLT and the walk to MK will be great. I'm just a little worried since so many ppl have said BLT doesn't have the disney feel and that they're not happy with the pool area.

Disney feel is a matter of personal perspective. BLT has a lot of Disney art, MK view, monorail view, on the original WDW lakes, Mickey head neon sign at the pool, Electric Water Pageant nightly, etc. However, some people want a resort that is highly themed and the Contemporary theme doesn't feel as highly themed as a resort like AKV.

As for the pool, IMHO the issue seems to be that most people forget that BLT is a part of CR. At BCV, BWV, and VWL some go to the quiet pool, but most go to the resorts feature pool. At BLT, most guests go to the BLT pool. Some even think they are pool hopping when they stay at BLT and go to the CR pool, but that is not pool hopping.

Everyone has personal preferences. The only way to know if you like BLT is to try it.

I agree, well said.

For us WDW is an escape from everyday life.

BLT, the building is like any other modern built building anywhere. It's like Main Street at the MK, we love the look, if it looked like the mall down the street, we wouldn't like it so much.
