Hi everyone..need some help this year. We have been members since 2004 (SSR) and have stayed at SSR, OKW, VWL, and the last few years have stayed at AK Kidani village. This year my kids are between BLT and BC.
They are 13,12,9 (girls) and 5 yo boy. They have all been to WDW numerous times and we will be spending time in each of the parks.
Which would you choose (2 bedroom in both are available for our dates)?
How is the transportation to the parks not in walking distance? (i have heard that BC can be a nightmare going to MK and HS)
:wizard: Thank you!!!!!!!!

If your traveling party has 6 guests, then I would suggest BLT because you would have an additional bathroom.

Asking me to choose is hard as BLT and BCV are our home resorts. Since you asked, I would choose BLT for the extra bathroom and walking distance to MK.

But then again I would choose BCV for the pool and walking access to Epcot and DHS and all the dining options.

How about considering a split stay? ;)

The thought of packing up 4 kids and food and moving to a new place is not very appealing lol No really we were considering it, I just think it would be a hassle moving everyone.

BCV for the pool. If your kids were younger I'd say BLT (because you'd probably be spending the most time at MK)

We drive when we stay at BLT to the parks not in walking distance so I'm not help with how long it takes to get to the other parks by bus.

The 3rd bathroom in the BLT 2 bedroom is awesome though. We just stayed in a 2 bedroom there for the first time this past October and we had so much room!

Well my girls (who are now college ages, but we have been members since they were in 2nd grade) have always like BC. I really wanted to stay at BLT this coming trip for the extra bath (we have 6 in our party cause they are both bringing a friend) and they begged me stay at BC. We only stayed at BLT once and I liked the easy access to MK, but to them, the Boardwalk and the Lake to walk around and the pool at BC are so beautiful, they don't want to go back to BLT.

Personally, I like Boardwalk better because of all the stuff there. They prefer BC. They say that you can still go to the stuff at Boardwalk, but the pool and the decor at BC appeals to them more.

So I would say....if you are picking for convenience....go with BLT for the location and extra bath.

If you are picking for the 'feel' of the place, go with BC. It just 'feels' so nice to be over there and to walk around the lake, swim in the sand bottom pool, visit the Boardwalk at night for Pizza, and take the little boats to the Studios.

Do not know if it is important to you, or what your dates are, but BCV is going through a rehab.

Depending on dates, you could get a pretty nice new room. To me that is worth something, but everyone is different.

Also, watch to make sure you are not falling into any pool closure dates at BCV, which I doubt you are.

We own at BWV. As for your transportation question, you can walk to both DHS & Epcot from BCV & BWV, although BCV is longer - 15 to 20 minutes. Easy to walk is early AM, but not after an all day in the park. I like BLT because of the easy access to MK and CR. Most people enjoy SAB at BCV, but I believe BLT guests can still use both pools at BLT & CR.

Two great resorts.

Some considerations:

1. At BCV you can easily walk to Epcot. You can also walk to Studios but that is about a mile. Otherwise you have a pleasant boat ride that also stops at the Swan/Dolphin dock. At BLT you can walk to MK or use monorail, which you also use for Epcot. As long as they are not having strange closings (like last year when the monorail was out of service for much of the day hours due to repairs being done), the monorail is good transportation.

2. The BCV bus (actually BC and YC stops) to MK and AK is fine as long as it is not sharing with BW and S/D. BW shares with S/D and sometimes the three groups of resorts share together, meaning five stops, and often there is no warning when they will do so but it is usually during some slower times of the day. The BLT bus to Studios and AK shares with another MK area resort (it was Poly the last time as I was there) and may sometimes share with more than one of the other resorts. Its bus sytem is not one of the best and you can experience some delays. I rate BLT about a little worse than BCV when BCV is only the BC and YC stops, but much better than BCV when BCV has to share with BW and S/D.

3. As to the 2BRs as rooms, BLT wins. It not only has a third bathroom but also the sleeper chair in the living room and about 80 sq ft of extra space over BCV. What it does not have is a balcony running along the living room but you can enter the master bedroom balcony from the living room. Moreover, the lack of a living room balcony is made up for by stunning views from almost floor to ceiling and wall to wall windows in the living room. The one necessary room request at BLT is high floor and hope you get it. Because of the rehab at BCV that will take much of the year, you could at any given time get either a still worn and in desparate need of rehab room or one that has already been done and looks new but you don't get to request which.

4. BVC has access to the best pool, Sormalong Bay, on site although the walk to it is not short and only a quiet pool is right at the BCV building. The BLT pool is at least a themed pool with long slide and other activities and you can walk a short distance to the main Contemporary pool which actually is not that impressive.

5. Neither BLT nor BCV has a restaurant in the building itself. The Contemporary has one of the best character meal restaurants, Chef Mickey's, and one of the best table service restaurants on site, the rooftop California Grill. You also have monorail access to Poly and GF restaurants. One other BLT advantage is that it has a boat that goes directly to Fort Wilderness and thus you can easily do the Hoop Dee Review from it. BCV has walking access to over two dozen restaurants (the parks and the Epcot resorts), access to nightly activities on the boardwalk, and in my view the best buffet dinner on site, the seafood buffet at Cape May Cafe at BC (no characters at dinner but breakfast has them). If you go there, make sure everyone gets crayons because you can sit and doodle on the paper tablecloths. My view is that BCV wins the battle of access to restaurants but BLT is real fine too.

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!!!!! I really appreciate all the feedback!!!My 13 year old wants BLT, my 12 and 9 year olds want BCV, my 4 year old just cant wait to go back on Star tours and Splash Mountain lol
I just really want this year to be special for my family, my children decided this year is all about my husband..he has been a Police officer for 22 years and with everything going on, they said they want to celebrate him <3

I know you said packing up 4 kids would take so much time. And I'm not doubting you, but have you thought the time spent traveling to Epcot and DHS? It may take a few hours to pack, call bell services and then unpack, but would it balance out by not needing to wait for buses/monorails?

Of course this depends on how you tour parks. We (only DH and I) start at BLT and go to MK a few days, AK one day and then switch to BCV. Then spend the last few days going to Epcot and DHS. Over the course of the trip, two buses and a few boats.

Just thought I'd throw an idea out there.

And please thank your husband for protecting us everyday and blessing on you for being a officer's wife.

I concur everything drusba stated. We are doing a split stay with these two resorts in August in order to maximize all BLT/BVC have to offer.

I strongly recommend looking into what rehabs or closings are taking place during your scheduled visit. We had some friends stay at the Polynesian this Fall. They were not happy with all the construction.
