Is Bay Lake Towers lake view much different than standard view? I have 1 nt. in a standard studio and 1 in a lake view booked for Nov. I would prefer to save the pts. but if it's worth it, I can switch and have lake view both nts. and not have to switch rooms. (right now I'm wait listed to be in standard both nts).

Lake view at BLT is a big gamble. You could have a great view of the MK, or could be on the interior of the building, with a very partial view of the pool and lake. I've had both.

Standard view is mostly lower floors.

Room map here.

View is a personal preference. No two people are alike.

We have had what I suspect is the worst SV at BLT.
Half of our view was the shell covering the loading dock (including plenty of dead bugs). However, the other half of the view was not bad.

DW focused on the shell and the dead bugs, I focused on the other half.

Is the glass half full or is the glass half empty?

To a great extent the difference is simply height. Standard are most rooms on the lower two floors and some on three and four. Lake view is everything above that except for the rooms designated theme park view in the front of the building. If you get the outer north wall lake view rooms you get excellent view, including partial of theme park. If you get outer south wall, many rooms have very nice views looking at lake in direction of Epcot but as you get closer to front of building your view becomes mainly of the Contemporary building. If you are in the inner semicircle of rooms some have very good views looking at lake/island and others look directly across at each other so lake can be seen mainly from the porch looking to right or left depending on which wall you are on.

Hi

The two times I've stayed in a studio room I had a great lake view with a decent view of WISHES. Now I've forgottenif I should get an even numbered room or an odd one to have a better chance of a view of the MK. I'm happy to say I'll be at the world in less than two weeks!

:cool1:

We are currently in room 8023, lv studio. Perfect view. If I knew how to post pic on here I would, sorry!

Oops, perfect view of lake, pool, light parade etc. not magic kingdom. Room in center of "c" facing lake.

I have stayed in a 2 bedroom SV at BLT twice and both times the view was great! Once I had a nice view of the marina and nightly water pageant (near CR) and the other time had a view a MK fireworks (near sky bridge). The only bad thing was there weren't any sheer curtains in the room, so people could see in our rooms. I did not enjoy having people look in at us. I felt like I was in a fishbowl. If there were sheer curtains, the rooms would have been perfect.

I have not stayed LV yet, but my sister has and her view was wonderful! She could see the MK fireworks.

I have also stayed MK view and enjoyed every second of looking at MK. However points wise, I like to stay SV.

Hopefully this helps you a little bit.

I love BLT and hope you enjoy your stay.

If you book a LV room, make sure you go in and do the pre-check in prior to arriving and request a high floor. When we arrived at our last stay earlier this month they had us in a LV room on the 3rd floor with a view of the marina. NOT!

I explained that I had requested a high floor (14 or 16) and was not going to spend LV points on a 3rd floor marina/lawn view. They found us a room on the 14th floor that was perfect.

The biggest advantage for us on a LV room is the water parade and pool view to keep a watch on the kids while they are down there. The other neat thing is seeing the other kids on their balcony getting so excited about getting up and going to the parks. You can always tell which families just arrived by how early the kids get up and how they are on the balconies.

One caution on the LV rooms though is that you get to hear the boat whistles starting at about 6AM. We actually like the sound but for some it could be annoying.

Enjoy!

I too would not want to move rooms for a 2 night stay - major inconvenience and a possibility of not getting into 1st room until after 4PM check out at 11AM then not getting next room until after 4PM - so for a 2 night stay you may have access to a room for a little over 24 hours.

This worries me, because I really want a high floor. Will do pre-check in but our plans for the day we check into our BLT LV 2 bedroom are to check out of our OKW studios, head to AKV for the day, then over to Epcot for dinner ADR at 7, so we probably won't get to BLT until 9pish and if we get a 3rd floor room they'll probably tell us that's all they have by then. We don't have a car and would lose a few hours of our first day of park time if we went to go check-in and see if the room they give us is okay.

I've stayed both lake view and standard view and I think from now on I'd stick with standard. Our lake view was north facing and mostly trees...not the beautiful bay lake I had dreamed of. Watching wishes was a perk from our lake view yes... but the room to our left was standard view which bugged me since our view was nearly identical and I spent a tons more points for Fri & Sat nights than them. Our standard view was second floor overlooking the courtyard/pool area. I enjoyed it and thought it was a good use of points.

first - you might get luck and have your room ready when you check into BLT that morning. if not - ask what floor you are own - then ask them to save that room for you. they need to put it in holding or reserved not sure of which term.

once went with lv - my problem because always stayed standard before then ask for high as possible - well high as possible with lv and standard view are two different things. when first checked in got told 14th floor.....knew couldn't handle that one - so asked for lower floor - she got me the fifth floor (I asked for it) - when got my textl they had moved me again to the 11th floor - well tried it - but really wanted lower - so they finally found me a room on the 7th floor. have had no other resort change my room once it had been assigned to me - so this was a surprise.... so make sure they leave your room (if you like it) alone.

you people who love heights :thumbsup2 but some of us don't - just my luck to check in when another family did not like heights either....

the standard view goes to the 5th floor. the 5th floor is great because that is where the sky bridge is located.

standard view on the 5th floor is my favorite. - going to try MK view this Dec only for one night - but that was all BLT had.

forgot - even number rooms are the outside - the inside is odd number rooms.

We stayed in a lake view and had the best view of the lake, Epcot fireworks, the water parade and the pool...it was breathtaking!
:)

Just did online checkin for a lv studio. I only requested the higher floors. Hope we get a good view.

got told that online was 'ready room' - so whatever room is ready for you when you check in - is the one you get. that it did not care what you request - but maybe they have changed it

Sounds like you were in the same area we were on our last trip. Requested high floor and got 16th floor. From our room we had a good view of Illuminations. We then walked out of our room, down the hall to the TOTW lounge and watched HalloWishes 15 minutes later. Back to the room afterwards and watched the Electrical Water Pageant from our balcony.

All this from a studio booked less than 2 weeks out. :thumbsup2
