BLT lake view not a lake view

We stayed one night in November at BLT. I reserved a Lake View but what I got was a view of the rooms across the horseshoe and the courtyard. If we stand to the very edge of the window we could see the lake. I do not consider this a Lake View.

What do you think? I want the 5 points difference credited back to my account!

A better name for the rooms on the inside of the C would be lake side rather than lake view. Most of the rooms on the inside look at least partially at other rooms.

Sorry you were disappointed. Good views are not guaranteed. You are unlikely to get any points credited back to your account. The room you describe is considered a lake view room.

I thought everything inside the horseshoe was considered lake view.

Learning from its experience with BLT, DVD has inserted language in Aulani's point chart and Master Declaration stating that views are subjective and include partial views of the ocean, pool, and island. Frankly, I'm surprised DVD has not incorporated similar language in BLT's documents.

Views are subjective. I remember shortly after BLT opened someone complained that anything below the 10th floor should not be considered a Magic Kingdom view. Should that person be credited back the point difference because they ended up with an MK villa on the 6th floor?

If you were credited back the 5 point difference, then I would think it only fair that DVCMC credit back every other Member who was charged the Lake View rate for that villa since August 4, 2009, the date BLT opened. As a BLT owner, I hope that doesn't happen.

For the Marathon weekend '10, we had a "lake view" that wasn't. MS agreed with us, and credited our account. They even put them in the next UY for us, we have a March UY and getting the few points back in January wasn't going to help us.

Call them and explain. They may agree with you.

OP - can you share your room#, to maybe cross-check against work2play's BLT view thread? Curious how others have reported on that particular room#.

Thanks! Room # 7435 on 4th floor.

Personally, I don't like the three classifications for points use. Clearly the MK view is nice and should be a premium. I find it funny because we rented points for a trip last February. We rented 231 for a 5 night stay in a 2br including fri and sat nights. So we paid for a standard view 2 br. It was the last 2 br reservation left. When we checked in we were on the top floor and had a full lake view. If you've ever been to the TOWL, when you exit it, go straight and we were the second room on the right. So, the extra points for the view make me say hmmmm.

Views are subjective, you are getting what you reserved the classification 'lake view' rather than an actual view of the lake, there's a subtle difference there. It can also work both ways - we reserved a lake view 2BR for our first time at BLT this summer and had an awesome view of Bay Lake and MK - I was totally wowed :yay: It took away some of the pain of having to splash the extra 30+ points for the lake view over a standard view due to needing a wheelchair accessible unit (now that is unfair :sad1: ).
