Well no pricing has been released as of now but they have announced that Bay Lake Tower at the Contemporary is going to be a DVC resort.

Link to a short DVC video release with a sneak peek of the rooms and complex amenities.

Resort is set to open Spring of 09.

On another note DVC also announced the addition of a new room category at Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort that being the newly Renovated Tree House Villas set to debut in Summer 09.

Link to release.

For the BLT, I do believe it has been reported as $112/pt. If you are already an existing DVC member, sales are starting on Sept 21 and for members only for 2 weeks.

If you purchase 100pt or more, there is an incentive of $5/pt.

Sorry, I don't know if the price is the same for new members.

Also, I heard that it was to open in Fall of 2009 (September 1, 2009). I guess we won't know for sure until they announce it.

Is it just me that can't help reading the thread title as bacon, lettuce & tomato? LOL :lmao:

lol...For awhile at the DVC thread, people were calling it the Big Sandwich.lol

I'm one of the ones who didn't like the name...I would have preferred Villas at Disney's Contemporary Resort or Bay Lake Villas or something like that. I just don't like "Tower". But by the decor of the rooms, it is probably appropriate.

The original name was to be Kingdom Towers but that was changed due to the Johovas Wintens naming of Kingdom Hall etc so Disney figured it was better to call it Bay Lake Tower.

Personally we are far more excited about the Tree House Villas being added to Saratoga Springs Resort. I have also read that they were intially going to be looking at 140.00 plus a point for BLT.

1) With the exception of Cruise sales, all DVC sales units have missed their goals for the year. Jim Lewis is very unhappy. Many Guides believe the problem was caused by Jim Lewis' choice of Steve Harvey (I don't know this person by name) as the lead advertising focus of last year. And guess what? supposedly, they just renewed their 'contract' with Mr. Harvey for next year!

2) NYC sales center is gonna happen soon, and may be in Northern New Jersey versus NYC proper. The IL and NY centers have been getting the best sales incentives even though it costs much more to sell at those locations than via the telephone sales-guide system. Some animosity is developing between these sales branches.

3) A bigwig on the BLT steering committee has a serious health problem that has required long hospitalizations and has thrown all schedules out the door. Guides who were told not to vacation in June and July, are again being told to vacation immediatly or not at all.

4) So, with disappointing 2007 FY sales, October 1st (Disney's next FY) is looking out to be the sales date (back to our original prediction nearly a half a year ago....... BUT many senior agents expect sales to begin on the Member's Cruise this September. DC just doesn't know. Also, BLT has *NOT* been declared part of DVC internally yet, despite the take out restaurant reported in the Sentinal.

5) Now the bad news....... Price per point *RUMORED* originally to have been $180 per point. That is not a typo. Management feels they could have sold out at that level last year (before the credit/mortgage crunch) became known. DC feels the delay in starting sales may even extend to the election. He expects points to go for $140.00pp PLUS. I hope he is wrong!

I saw posts saying that they think it may even be $180.:scared1:

My original speculation shown on post #11 of the thread below was for it to be about $105-$107 (or maybe that was just wishful thinking;) )

Yep the post above yours I bolded the section showing what the price point was looking to be and that is crazy. I am sure some will pay it but for me no thanks I do not even like the Contemp enough to pay a discounted rate at the resort LOL.

I agree. I think people just got carried away because they have been wanting this so much that they are positive Disney would be able to sell it for a high price. But as the thread went on, a lot of people had cut off prices that they were willing to pay. And eventually, the thought of the possibility of paying $140 - $180 per point was just outrageous and some started to think twice about it and some even went as far a saying that that is too much and they are not buying into it BEFORE anyone even knew any details.

So I am glad they were reasonable with the price. I don't know if I am going to purchase any add ons, but at least I'm still on the fence about it. Any higher price would definitely pulled me off. I like the location. But just like you, I don't really like the look of the contemporary. And after seeing the announcement, the room decor is even less appealing. But don't get me wrong, I would probably like to stay there a few times just to experience it, but I'm not sure if I would purchase. But I must admit, a larger incentive, say $10 discount may sway me (and my husband - he's not a fan of the Contemporary either).;)

Ya pricing the BLT above 120.00 a point and the target audience won't budge IMHO. They will buy resale contracts for OKW SSR and the others at 100 a point.

And not even that much. Vero is selling in the $60's, OKW is selling in the $70's, BWV, SSR and VWL is selling in the $80's and BCV is selling between $88-92, and I believe AKV is starting to drop in price averaging about $95-98. So, if someone isn't too attached to BLT, they would just go for resale if they price it way too high. So DVC does know what they are doing.

The $/pt isn't the only thing you need to worry about, the pts/night also play a BIG part with BLT.

I currently hold a res for a Standard View, 2 Bedroom at AKV, 5 nights - 135 pts during value season.

I checked the member website and a Standard View, 2 Bedroom at BLT, 5 nights, same dates -185 pts = 37% more points needed for a stay at BLT.

So it it can be said that if you need 37% more points to stay at the BLT, IF the point charts were more in-line with the other DVC resorts that the purchase price would be in the $145/pt range.:confused3

The resort really doesn't appeal to me so I don't plan on adding-on pts but I just hope that the DVC at DL is a little more affordable in terms of points per night.

I've been out of the DVC loop for a while (that's what happens when you do too much borrowing :confused3  )

I don't think I would be willing to use that many more points to stay at BLT - has there been a points chart at all put out for the DVC at DL?? And any info as to when that is going to be ready for booking?

I really really am ready to get another vacation going!!

No point charts for either yet, but if you go the MS site you can use the points calculater and one of the resort options is BLT.

I really want to add-on in DL.:thumbsup2

When I compared my vacation trips for next year with the BLT points shown on the points calculator, I was getting a reasonable number. For reference, I am comparing it to BCV and AKV. At least for my vacations, it appears that a 1 bd Savannah view at AKV uses only 4 pts less than the BLT 1 bd standard view for 14 nights in March. And for my August trip, the 1 bd BCV uses only 6pts less than BLT 1 bd standard view for 14 nights.

So technically, the MK views for BLT is the higher category, maybe in line with the Concierge (not sure since we have never gone with this category).

Just wondering,
when you compared pts why did you compare a AKV Savanna View to a BLT Standard View. Wouldn't it be Standard/Standard, Savanna View/Lake View, Concierge/Mk View.
Without a look at point charts it's tough to get an idea of how much of a premium BLT will be.

We wanted to add on at GCV also and actually bought our contract at DL to get first crack at them. With flights being so high priced now we have changed our minds about buying at GCV and will just stay with the one contract and add on from there.

Wow those are some pretty high points....little too rich for me. That is a great website. Dave Welty let me use him as a referral for our DVC purchase in DL!:thumbsup2

Ya that site is like my second home on the internet next to the Montreal Canadiens site LOL.
