So here's my problem. I definitely plan on adding-on @ BLT very very soon. The thing is I can't decide which "avenue" to use. I currently have 200 pts @ SSR. So I can either:
1) Just add-on as many points as I can afford @ BLT now (anywhere between 100 & 200 likely)
2) Add-on a lesser amount of points @ BLT now(100?) and then add-on as many more as I can afford before it sells-out.
3) Sell back the 200 pts @ SSR and then just use the money that was going towards that plus the extra I had slotted for BLT and just buy as many points as I can @ BLT (300-400?)

Contemporary has always been my favorite resort and I would love to have as many points there as possible. I'm a little hesitant about getting rid of my 200 SSR pts b/c of the THV 11 month window and also they are the 1st points I ever bought on my own so it's kinda nostalgic lol but in the long run I obviously have much more interest in staying @ BLT than SSR. Most likely I will spend most if not all of my vacations @ BLT or BWV.

We're also having the dilemma. We'd like to add another 200 points and I'd love to do it at BLT or maybe 100 at BLT and 100 at Treetop. We have 225 at SSR that we'd like to keep. It's a tough choice because the economy is bad also! I would keep your SSR contract for right now, because you may not get much resale right now because of the economy.

Same boat. 200 @ BWV and going to buy at Contemporary.

I think we are doing 100 now and 100 after first of the year for cash flow purposes. Do we need 400 points? No. Is 100 enough for BLT 11 month window? No.

Ideally we would have 300 points with 200 @ BLT and 100 @ BWV or 150/150 mix - but the BWV contract is 200. So we are stuck. But we don't want to short BLT with only 100 points. So it looks like we'll be at the 400 total by March 2009!

Just pointing out here that you don't "sell back" your SSR points. You need to go thru resale and find a buyer, or price it so low that Disney buys it back thru ROFR. You probably know this, but your post sounded as if you were planning on doing a "return".

Since you own at SSR, you already own at the Threehouse Villas, it is not a separate resort to purchase, but a new booking category for SSR.

I don't know the details... but knowing when SSR was sold, the cost to buy-in and current retail...

If you did the math this would likely be a very bad decision to sell SSR. The cost for the vacations you've taken on those points when you look at the resale "loss" would be pretty high. And if you sold 200 points @ SSR they would only equal about 120 BLT points. Thats a lot of points to give up to increase your BLT share...

I suggest (if cash flow is the concern) you take the 100 now, 100 later option. 200/200 is an excellent mix at 2 resorts. And hopefully the BWV, BCV, VWL options become more available with BLT and THV in the mix! (was that enough acronyms for you! :) )

I'm thinking that maybe I'll just do 100 @ BLT for now and then in a few months do another 100 or even more if I can afford more. Although I must say I am intrigued by the offer of having my name on the fountain if I buy 160now lol Realistically it's all gonna come down to finances and how much it works out to be for however many points. I'm gonna call either this afternoon or tomorrow and check on the total for 100, 160, and 200 point add-ons @ BLT. Hopefully then I can do the add-on while I'm @ WDW next week.

I think I've decided to do 160 @ BLT now and then see how many more points I can afford to add-on before it sells out. If my calculations are correct(which they probably aren't lol) it would be approx. $219/month for 160 points and $50/month for dues.
