Hi all - sorry to be a pain -I'm having a funny five minutes and have confused myself!!

Am I right in thinking my Dec 2014 points are available to use between 12/1/13 and 11/30/16 with banking/borrowing?

Seems too long a window to be right - but yet seems right to me!!:lmao:

I believe that's correct. You can borrow them into 2013 starting 12/01/2013. If you bank them into 2015, you can use them until 11/30/2016.

the calendar year changes only 1 month after receiving the years points...so you spend most of the new calendar year managing the last calendar year's (and your current UY) points...get it? Took me awhile and I still have to stop and struggle thru it especially when banking and borrowing. Still fun!

Thanks everyone:thumbsup2

I agree it's tricky - I have it all sorted in my head one minute and then start questioning myself!;).

It's my first time attempting to switch resorts at 7mths and the juggling of points between use years has thrown me into a spin - I have it all written down now, and just hope my figures match MS when I ring them later!! :lmao:

We have a Dec UY too and it drives me crazy also! But you are right, that is how it works.

Never mind your dues are due January 15th, but you do not get your points until December 1st, that one was really good to wrap my head around.

The one I'm still trying to figure out is on the last year of our contract do we still have to pay the whole MF even if we only have 1 month to use the points? Doesn't seen fair.

Or there will be piles if Dec UY owners who will be borrowing points to use them up before the last year comes.

OK, I never thought about that one....

Surely, your last use year, your points will expire 11/30 of the following year just as they always have, right? You'll get to use them until then, won't you?

Well from what I remember on my deed it says Jan 1st of 20xx.
Sooooo... :)
I hope we do get to use it until the next year but I'm not sure.

nope. the resort lease will expire jan 31, 2042 (or whatever) and that will be the last date for stays, regardless of use year.

much speculation on what will happen:

-banking/borrowing will be disallowed in the last few years
-annual dues waived in the last year
-a lottery for using pts in the last year
-a free-for-all

no one knows for sure...the 2042 resorts will likely be a test case for other owners...

Wow! Never really thought about this!!:scratchin

So if they banned borrowing, then I guess we'd have to use them in Dec that year - that doesn't seem right - will watch 2042 with interest (I own at BLT/AKV so don't need to worry just yet!):goodvibes

I never thought much about my deed's expiration date before...

it is still a long way off. :) if i'm still an owner then, i'll have gotten my value out of it either way...

Me too. I own at BLT/AKV. Come to think of it, I know they have a date WAY off in the future, but I can't recall what it is...

Oops... yeah, I meant Jan 31st not 1st :)

I'm hoping that they would do "only pay your MF if you have reservations or plan to use the points before Jan 31st"... :rotfl:
That way if we can't find availability we won't still be stuck with the bills but without being to use the points.

What about extensions? I know they "tried" in the past and it wasn't really successful, but I have always thought Disney would eventually figure something out. Maybe not. :confused3

the older resorts apparently have language in the contracts that makes extensions difficult. the OKW extension was a disaster. maybe disney lawyers find a way, but i wouldn't bet on it...

and that still doesn't solve the problem - just pushes it forward a few years. eventually the buildings get old...disney is not going to offer a timeshare "in perpetuity"...so it's got to end sometime - what do you do?
