Blog Link Help

My wife runs a blog about rubber stamping crafts where she posts pictures of different crafts she does with the stamps. She gets pretty good traffic I guess. She received an email from a guy who claims to be representing a card hosting site (legit business) that is offering her a few hundred bucks to put a link on her blog to their site. No other instructions or requirements other than what to write in the link. I have no idea how he found her blog.

This seems really weird to me but I am totally clueless (and so is my wife). Does anyone have any experience with blogs and this type of link? Should she just take the $$...??

Will she also get paid per click through? Is it just a one time fee for the link? I would set a time limit on how long the link will be there for the set fee. What is the site address? So others can gauge how the link should be handled.

Here is the info he sent after my wife asked for more info: My question is still if the guy sends us a check is there anything we need to worry about like from a scam or legal perspective? Putting the link on the blog is no big deal. I think it looks pretty legit to me but I worry about stuff like this. Thanks for your help!!

Looking at your site, perhaps the best way to blend in would be to slide into the links you have listed at the bottom of the page under the section "More favorite places to visit". If you are comfortable with this idea we could keep it very simple and just use the words "Photo cards". If you'd rather we stay out of your "favorites" section we could place a short sentence somewhere else on the site. Something like:
"Print and mail some of your favorite images when you turn them into photo cards."
In this sentence only the words "photo cards" would be used as the link. All of the other text would be normal.
As for payment, we would like to buy this link for a full year. We can offer xxx dollars for hosting this link, but since the Christmas season is coming up and we need some links for the Christmas card page, we could offer you xxx dollars if you wanted to host a link to the "Christmas Cards" page for now and then in January change the link to "photo cards". The Christmas card page offers the same exact service, just Christmas themed. The link to that page is here.
