First take a hot shower. Tip your head back and massage the neck area of the ear that is blocked. That will help get the mucus and fluids flowing.
Drink hot fluids and hold a heating pad to your hear. Can also try heating some sweet oil -sold in the cold/ear section at the drugstore. Dribble the oil in your ear and put a cotton ball in your hear. Keep you head tipped to the side so the oil doesn't run out and lay on the couch for awhile.
I had this happen at Disney before. Went to Walgreens got a metal spoon, sweet oil, a candle and a lighter and some cotton balls. Heated my oil on the metal spoon over the candle in my resort room. If I did that today the maid would think I was doing illegal drugs! When I woke up in the morning my ear was 100% better.
CVS makes a Non-drying cold med that won't dry you out to the point that your sinuses hurt.
Use a warm air humidifier in your bed room.
