We had tickets to go to the Block Party Tour this week (Aug 6th), but just got an email from Ticketmaster saying the event has been cancelled.

Does anyone know what is up?
I can't find anything on the web.

The disney site (www.disneymusicblockpartytour.com) is only showing Long Island under tickets/showtimes.

BNL wasn't scheduled to appear at this stop, so I doubt their situation is the issue.

We bought the tickets to give to the kids (DS4/DD4) for thier birthday.

Anyone know what is going on with the tour or is it just this one site? :confused3

Thanks, Jeff.

I get the Ralph's World newsletter and I received this email today:

We don't have all the details and all the reasons, but much to our regret, all the
scheduled shows on the Disney Music Block Party Tour have been canceled
EXCEPT for the Long Island shows- which no longer includes BNL. Please let anyone
you know who already has tickets to change their plans. As most of you know, Ralph
was very excited about these shows in every way- the stage, the fairgrounds, the
leisurely time to meet fans, and of course the other fabulous musicians. To be
clear, it's not just Ralph's appearance that is not going to happen, it's all
the DMBP shows except for the one at the Nassau Coliseum in New York.
This was a decision by the promoter, AEG Live, not Ralph and his fellow artists.
Since we just received the news we don't know what the plans are for Ralph's World
inbetween now and September other than the Ocean City, New Jersey, show on Thursday,
August 21st. Hopefully we'll have news about refunds by tomorrow.

The show was in our neighborhood last week. They could not give away the tickets and they canceled after the first day. The local paper published a story saying Raven backed out? several days before the shows were to start.

OT but we took DD5 to see Raven @ Six Flags and DD asked to leave after a few songs. Lots of people left the show long before it was over. Her new music was just not what we anticipated.

That is a shame. It seemed like such a good idea. I was so disappointed it wasn't coming to Florida.

But then in all fairness we did see a lot of those bands at MGM during the past two years.

It looks like it is still going to happen here in Michigan later this month. I looked into taking DS and DD, but after adding it all up, 4 tickets would have cost us about $200.00! That seems expensive for one afternoon. I hate to wonder whether or not the weather will cooperate for that day as well. It does seem fun and a good idea, but for that money we could do many things in this area for much less. JMHO

Maybe lack of tickets sold? I know the ravenconcert was cancelled here a few months ago because of low ticket sales.

:sad1: What a sin... We were supposed to go to this show in Toms River, NJ last Sunday 6/26 and it was rained out. My oldest son loves Choo Choo Soul so we opted to trade our tickets in for the Philadelphia show this past Sunday 8/3. This was a great show, both my boys had a great time and it is such a shame for the kids that were looking forward to going. I am so glad I had the chance to take my children before they cancelled the tour. Best of all, my son got to meet Genevieve and DC and have his picture taken with them.

wishtdream, are you from Jersey?

I went to the show on the Saturday it was in Toms River, NJ and I can tell you the only reason we went is because they were giving the tickets away. They only sold 800, and resorted to giving them away to get people in. I am guessing this was doomed to fail from the beginning because of the cost of the tickets. Here is a link to my post about the day's events on another board. Disney Music Block Party Review and some photo's

yes

We had a great time in Philadelphia this past weekend. It's sad to hear that others will not be able to enjoy it. Our 3 1/2 year old son had a great time and the performers were awesome. They even appeared for free pictures and autographs after the show. The interaction was phenomenal, the acts really cared about their fans.

On a down note I'm sure the promoter was disappointed since there was probably less than 1000 people there and this was a major metro area. The concept was great with an intimate stage and fun interactive booths for the kids to play in, but I'm sure the price and outdoor venue gave some people pause. I was concerned about summer thunderstorms ruining the experience. Luckily that didn't happen.

Hopefully they can find a way to revive this tour. Maybe with an indoor venue and only one show in each city. Actually the price was not bad but an indoor venue would have been better. If they revive the tour I would definately go again. Thanks to all the performers for their great enthusiasm in spite of the heat, humidity and small crowd.

We were supposed to go to the show in Chicago yesterday - glad I checked my email because just the night before we found out it was cancelled. I thought it was an awesome plan, my DD3 was stoked. It was definitely a heartbreaker to tell her it was cancelled. I think advertising was pretty weak for the concept, myself.

We wanted to go, but never bought tix (too expensive to take the whole family).
What's the deal with BNL?

The lead singer (Steven Page) was arrested for cocaine possession.

The band pulled out of the one show they were scheduled to appear at. I'm sure Disney didn't protest.
Although I agree, the band's name is not really appropriate for Disney show like this, my kids love the Snacktime CD.

Oh.. wow. I hadn't heard that! They are DH's all-time fav band. I have to say I'm kind of surprised.
