I have bought a pair of pool shoes for DD. For those of you that have gone do you wear them (can an adult tolerate the temp of the cement walkways) or do you just buy them for the kids?

If I remember correctly the guards always made my DD take them off @ TL.

Thanks,
Lisa

I don't know about the Disney water parks, but I will let you know what we do when we go to the Wisconsin Dells parks. We all wear Teva sandals, but water shoes are fine too. Most of the rides we never have to take them off. All rides do have little cubby areas that towels and shoes can be left at. I would imgaine most waterparks are the same.

We do not like walking on hot pavement barefoot, never mind going into restrooms barefoot (yuck).

Yuck! Thanks! I always do that, head to the bathroom go to walk in and realize I forgot my shoes. Then you have to go back again.....

Are the Teva Sandals waterproof?

Yes, they are sport type sandals (although you can get leather ones, we never do). For our boys we always buy the Lands' End version, cheaper and they grow out of them so fast. Here is a link to the Lands' End version: http://www.landsend.com just look for the kids link.

We wear them in the lake too when we are out boating. Last summer the one time I didn't we were swimming off our boat and I stepped on broken glass! Glad it was me, I had made my kids keep theirs on.

Wear sandals! I have tough feet, but they were miserable because the pavement had burned them terribly.

I'm in the minority here ... our family goes barefoot at TL and BB and never had a problem.

Of course, I go barefoot every chance I get so my feet are tough. My DH has tender feet, but doesn't have a problem at TL and BB.

We always wear sandals at the waterparks. We just bought some cheap ones at a department store & they have lasted through many trips to TL, BB & Wisconsin Dells parks. I've not been on all of the slides, but have never had to take them off for anything. I believe they must have plastic buckles, etc.---no metal.

At TL my husband and I wore the water shoes, great for getting around without buring your feet, or getting them filthy. However, we did have to take them off and hold them on several water slides. A little bit of a pain, but not bad.

When I swam out deep to wait for the tidal wave it is hard to tread water in them, I had a tankini on and just slipped them off and tucked them in my bottoms- hey no one could see and i just pulled them out when I got out. Much better than taking them off, trying to find a safe place in the mayhem where i would find them and then getting them back. I lost my room towel there- but no charge for it.

Tevas- which I also own have a stiff bottom and really hurt when someone steps on your foot or kicks you by accident underwater. I liked the soft shoe water shoes better. And sand doesnt get in them as easy as a open toed sandal.

But that said, everyone has their own personal preference.

I cant answer the question about different rules about removing shoes at BB vrs TL, my guess would be that they make you take them off on any tunnel style water slide.

HAVE FUN!!!!!:cool1:
