We're taking my 8 yr old and 11 yr old to either Blizzard Beach or Typhoon Lagoon as part of a week in August. Trying to figure out which will be better. Only the 11 yr old will do the big slides and don't want the family split up all day. Can they both do the Ski Patrol area at Blizzard Beach - what, if any, are the height/age restrictions? Is it true the the 10yr old minimum has been lifted for Shark Reef at Typhoon Lagoon? Thanks!

I have had a 12 YO in the ski patrol area. If there is a age or size limit I don't think they enforce it. I think you would be better at TL since BB has more thill slides than anything else.

I think it will be easier to keep your family together at TL. I did not see any age restriction signs at Shark Reef, but you may want to call Disney and ask about that though. Have fun. :wave2:

We were at TL last month 9year old son(small for his age) went in the Shark Reef. I don't think they enforce the age limit if there is one. We love TL, lots of things to do for everyone. The new Crush & Gush was awesome. Some family members like the thrill slides and some did not. So it was nice because they have the lazy river or the wave pool. The kid area is nice also.
The theming is so relaxing also. Living in the Midwest the last thing I wanted to think about on vacation was snow!!

I'm not sure about an age limit for Shark Reef either, but my DD was 7 back in '02 when she did it the first time. The slides at TL are definitely more laid back, except for the new Crush 'n Gusher. And the wave pool is very intense! Our DD 10 loves it, but I know others think it's too rough. Last trip my DD did the ski patrol area. I don't think there's a limit, it just says "preteen", so I think an 11 yr old is fine.

BB has a great pre-teen area separate from the kiddie area. I would think your kids would both love this.
