For first timers - which do you think would be better/more fun for two girls 7 & 8??? Also, how much time do you need to spend in either park to do everything it has to offer???

Also, if we have a down day, do you think its better to spend it in a water park, or just hang out at the pool at the resort? We will be staying at OKW.

Thanks in advance for any opinions!!!

I've never been to BB and really have no interest in it. While it does have a kids area and some kids really like it, I see more adults and teens have interest in BB.

I love TL. I think it's definitely more "kid friendly" not just what it offers, but it's atmosphere as well. The landscaping is very lush and shady.

As for a down day, it basically comes down to how busy you want to be. The water parks can be very busy (and depending on when you're going, they may close for some hours due to high attendance). I think the water parks are fabulous fun, but if you're looking for a more relaxing atmosphere where you can just lay back...hanging out at the pool might be a better option.

For family things to do. bb is the place to go . but your kids are 7 and 8. go to tl until they are 10 then only bb from then on. they won't want to go back to tl.

It's not necessarily true that they won't want to go back once they hit a certain age. A lot of teens love TL. Perhaps your kids don't want to go back...but not all kids are that way. ;)

We took our daughter to both last April. She was 8 years old, so possibly a good match with what your daughters might like.

TL - We loved it. She was singled out that day as the Big Kahuna, so we got lots of extra attention, privaledges, etc. We did the snorkel with the sharks first, and she was able to do all the slides (I wouldn't let her go on the big one, though) by lunch time. The new coaster slides are not great for little ones if their bottoms fit down through the inner-tubes -- our daughter complained that she got a "spanking" from the slide and wouldn't go on it again. The kiddie area here is too small for 7-8 year olds -- they wont be allowed in it. The wave pool was great and our daughter loved it!

BB - We loved it as well. No extra perks here for us. My daughter did the slides early on before the crowds poured in. In BB there is a kiddie area (too small for 7-8 year olds) and a pre-teen area perfect for an 8 year old. She had so much fun in this area "Ski Patrol Training Camp." Kids can play there alone or with parents. There is a zip-line, about 5-6 slides and a fun challenge to cross the water on icebergs. The attractions here would not appeal too much to teens, IMO. The big pool didn't have big waves, just bobbing ones, but our daughter liked that better.

To sum up, we really liked both, but BB had more slides for our daughter to try out. And more "play zones". Both have great lazy rivers. Both have cool but very different themes.

Our last day was reserved for whatever we wanted to repeat, and our daughter chose BB!

I'm sure you will have fun whichever one you choose! There are no water parks like Disney water parks!

We are live at Wilderness Lodge right now, just got back from Mk lunch at Crystal Palace.
Last Saturday we went to Typhoon Lagoon during evening Extra Magic Hours, That was the best move we made, no waiting in line for anything!!.
The past few days they have closed the park early in the afternoon because of capacity crowds and or the threat of Lightening. Both parks offer morning EMH, and Blizzard beach was packed by 9am, with 20 to 30 minute waits for the major slides. The youngest niece loved Typhoon Lagoon, she didnt care too much for BB, said "Stuff was too big there"...LoL

we found the opposite of most of the posters. My kids loved BB and were bored at TL. They were to big for the kid's area, they said it was for babies, and hated the wave pool because they got knocked down and the bottom is very rough. I got knocked over myself, several times, by adults who had lost their footing and crashed into me, and I'm 5'9". They loved BB because of Ski Patrol area. BB also has a better family wave ride, a nice lazy river, and the wave pool, as mentioned above, isn't as rough with milder waves.

Well I have yet gone to Blizzard Beach. I am going this time though. Last time I went to Typhoon Lagoon, which was a very fun water park. So I would have to say Typhoon Lagoon. But seeing how I did not go to Blizzard Beach yet, I should not judge until I go in 25 days.

Well I am not 8 so I might not count.
But I am a teenager
I personally love Typhoon Lagoon...The lazy river the sharks and the slides there are more 'my style' you could say.
I've been to both and either way you can't go wrong!

All of your posts have been so helpful. My DD will be 9 when we return to WDW in October and she wants to try BB (she's never been to a water park). Sounds like she'll really like it. DH & I went to TL back in 1993 and really enjoyed it. It will be interesting to see what BB is like.

Too bad there are no EMHs scheduled for the water parks for October.
