We would love to finally try a waterpark during our next trip and BB seems like the way to go since the ski patrol area appeals to our 11 and 8 yr olds. Problem is- the day we could go would be Oct 29th around noon- this is a Sunday and also last day before they go into refurb.

Thoughts on if it will be more crowded on a Sunday before refurb?

Would it be better to rearrange our plans and go to TL instead?

I couldn't tell you if the refurb closing will make a difference, never gone the day before one. It might. Sunday isn't a ton different than the other days. You get some locals on the weekend, but the waterparks are never as crowded as the 4 main parks. So any day of the week is fine. Get there right at opening time, and you'll be fine.

By the way, the 11 year old is probably right at the upper edge of age appropriate for Ski Patrol. It's really meant for ages 4-9 roughly. He/she may get bored of it. The slides there are kiddie slides. There is an iceburg crossing thing, but an 11 year old will be pretty tall for it.
