Blizzard Beach - Day 3 - Feb 22

Well, today I am off to one of Disney's water parks for the first time. I was hoping to go to Typhoon Lagoon, but it is still closed. So I am off to Blizzard Beach.

Get there just as the gates open. Found out that if you buy the big cup for all day drink refiles that it is only $10 from CMs selling them from the little carts. I think that they would be a great money saver for a small family. Its a really nice large cup, that I know I will be using a lot when I get home. And if I ever go back to the park, all I have to do is bring the cup back, and buy a new code bar sticker for it.

Got a locker as soon as I got to them, put every thing up, execept for my regular camera. I walked around the park once to take pics. The park is bigger than I thought it would be. But the Alpine Buildings mixed in with the palm trees is fun to look at.

But, what I should have done was just put every thing up and head to the slides that I wanted to check out. Because by the time that I got through taking pics, tons of people came pouring into the park. The lines went from no real wait time to nearly 20 minutes or more, in no time flat. Just around noon the place was packed. Every thing had a major line. So I just sat back, relaxed and enjoyed the park. I did the Cross County creek, a few times. This is really a great way to relax. That is if you can master the really cold water that gets dumped on you in two different places along the creek. And yes, the cave that the creek goes through is very, very, very cold. But by the third time that I had gone around, I figured out a way to keep myself from getting soaked. The river has two types of floats. The whire ones with a bottom, and the blue one with out bottoms. When ever I would get close to the very cold cave, with the very cold water, that comes down on you. I would take one of the white floats and use it as an umbrella type thing. Trust me the cave can still get cold, but its not as bad if you are able to keep the cold water off you before you go in.

Just had a hot dog at the Lottawatta Lodge. Even with all of the people in the park, it looked like it was the only place that was open that was serving lunch, not just snacks. It was funny to watch people at the refil station for the refil cups. There was the mother and daughter team tring to fill up the paper cups that you get with your meal. They keeped looking all over those things looking for the bar code that would turn on the machine so that they could get some more coke, but they never did figure it out.

After I left the water park, I headed over to the Winter and Summerland Mini-golf course, located right next door to the water park. It cost $10 to do a round of 18 holes on your choice of course. You can do either the Summer one or the Winter one. I did the winter one. It was quite fun. Had a family of three in front of me, dad was just teaching his sone how to play. It took him a couple of trys but after a while, he was hitting holes in ones. I did a couple holes-in-ones myself. I was able to finish the course in a little over a hour, but that was only because of the family that was in font of me. Looking foward to comeing back and trying the other course on my next trip.

For tonights dinner, we are headed to the Polynesian, to eat at Kona Cafe. This place is quite good, but not exactly what I was expecting. They kinda' serve what I call "pretty food" you know that type if place that puts your food in some special design on the plate. I got the scallops and shrimp and mom got the salmon, though we thought it was good, we thought for the price we could have eaten at "Ohanas, and we would have gotten more for our money. Well, at least I can now say that I have tried it.

Then after dinner, we headed out to the beach, and watched Wishes at the Magic Kingdom. The firework show looks totally different from this angle. From the beach you can really tell that they fire works are not just behind the castle. And you can still hear some of the music from the poly beach, but the words are hard to understand. But if you would like to see the show from a different angel you should give this a try.

After that its back to the Royal Plaza for some much needed rest. Going to Animal Kingdom.

I bought one of those BB mugs ... it was great, but the darn code sticker got wet a couple of times, then it ripped ... so I kept having to go and ask a CM to replace it.

I'm thinking the next time I go I'm going to stick a piece of clear mailing tape on my mug, peel it up and get the code sticker put under it so I don't have to waste time getting it replaced.
