I am sure this has been asked before, but which of these 2 water parks do you prefer?

We are a family of 5-3 children ages 10, 8 and 7.
We ususally go to WDW in Feb and any days warm enough we go the pools. We have a sudden trip we will be taking in July and I thought it would be a good idea to try the water parks.

We really prefer BB and I think it's the theming and more vaiety of slides. Our DS12 loves the Teen Patrol area for kids, too. We just did TL 3 weeks ago and loved the Crush n Gusher, but BB is still our favorite!!! :goodvibes

For your childrens ages I would suggest Blizzard Beach. However, the truth is no matter which park you choose they're going to love it. My son alternates between the two. One year BB is his favorite, the next year it's TL. It's just too hard to choose!

But for a first experience I'd say BB. Better yet, do both. ;)

My DD (10) loves the wave pool at TL. We spend nearly all day there. With the new slides & shark reef, TL beats out BB. BB does have some great slides and the ski patrol area is wonderful!! If your kids love slides, go to BB, if they love wave pools, go to TL.

My first vote would be for both water parks too. We do enjoy both parks. But, it really depends on what your kids are like. Our favorite is Typhoon Lagoon. We like the theming better there and the wave pool is better there too. The slides there are fine. Blizzard Beach does have more and better slides and has an awsome family raft ride. But, Blizzard Beach is very bright on sunny days because of the white snow theming.

Our 12 year old son enjoys the slides at Blizzard Beach, but he loves the wave pool at Typhoon Lagoon.

I think if you can only do one, then you will have fun at either park.

I like the slides better at BB. BB has great racing slides that older kids usually like. I like the wave pool, the lazy river and the atmosphere better at TL.
If you want a relaxing day go to TL, if you want to be adventurous and go on crazy waterslides go to BB.

we haven't tried crush and gusher yet, so take the following with a grain of salt..

we prefer BB's slides...
we prefer TL's wave pool..

but we usually opt for BB because we're slide-a-holics...

by the way, we never stay in either of them after about 11:30.....since we only come for the slides..

also, when my kids were younger they liked the ski patrol area for kids...they thought it was better than at TL....

but the wave pool at TL is amazing and worth at least one visit for that...

That's a really tough decision for us. We did Typhoon Lagoon (the only one open at the time) on our last family trip in 2003 and I don't remember much of it because I spent most of the time with our then barely a toddler age daughter in the baby stuff... I did do the shark snorkeling thing once though... while DH did all the slides/etc. with the older two. We did Blizzard Beach this last trip and we were going to do Typhoon Lagoon also but we opted to sleep in late instead and then it rained from noon until 8:30pm that day... so that nixed that idea. So I really can't compare them- but from what I read on this thread I guess it was a good thing we went to Blizzard Beach for the youngest daughter... and her favorite ride (that she made me trek up there for like I don't know HOW many times but boy my legs were aching at the end of that day LOL) was the family raft ride.

We're definitely doing Typhoon Lagoon this trip but possibly Blizzard Beach again too. My son wants to go to Typhoon Lagoon. First he wanted to go to BB really bad because we saw on a show that it was the #1 waterpark. LOL But now he wants to go to Typhoon Lagoon because last time we went he wasn't a strong swimmer at that time and didn't do the shark snorkeling- he wants to do it this time. Might your children, at their ages, enjoy that also?

I thought Schlitterbahn was the #1 rated water park and BB was somewhere behind it?

What is the "shark swim"?

It certainly seems like each park has something to enjoy. Funny how they can't put the best of both into one--or is that marketing?

We visited both TL and BB last week with our 9, 8, and 5 year olds and the kids preferred BB. Our infant daught had no preference ;-) I expected to like TL much more than BB, but I found both to be equally pleasant. We did really enjoy the family raft ride at BB. We used the advice here and visited BB first thing in the morning (wanted to make certain to secure a nice shady spot for the baby and whoever was on baby patrol), and we visited TL in the evening hours...arived about 5 pm on our arrival day. Both worked really well and made for an enjoyable visit with little to no waits.

But choosing for your family and your kids ages I would say Blizzard Beach.

They will love the Ski Patrol Area, designed just for them. Get there early and pick some seats close to it. Perfect for when you want to eat or rest alittle bit and they have their water play area in front of them.

Differences:

BB - Great Disney cartoon theming that makes it great fun for kids. Skylift to top for when the legs are getting tired. Lazy river. Great fun in the Ski Patrol Area for the elementary age kids. Very well planned little kiddie area (you won't be using). Awesome slides, maybe alittle faster than TL. Family Raft ride is the BEST ! A nice wave pool to enjoy together without fear of getting pounded.

TL - Lush relaxing landscape that lends to some private spots and nice for adults. Shark Reef where you can snorkel with the fish. Great to do at the beginning of the day. Lazy river. Good slides and has added the new Crusher slide. Wave Pool that will keep you riding and jumping and enjoying the awesome power of it's waves.

You are correct, according to the Travel Channel, Schlitterbahn in Texas is #1. But, BB has the tallest water slide.
