DAY FOUR – ANIMAL KINGDOM

This morning we were scheduled for a character breakfast at Donald’s Breakfastosaurus. The kids were really hard to get up. Dd was crying because she didn’t want to get up. I was afraid that her nose would start to bleed again, but thankfully it did not. We arrived at AK on time. The walk back the restaurant was great – just beautiful. The Oasis area you walk thru is so pretty and you can really see it when the crowds are not in the park yet. Today was very humid – almost a fog of humidity this morning.

Breakfast was good at Donald’s. The kids ate well here again. They enjoyed the Krispy Kremes and fresh fruit. We found all the food very good. Our server was great too. We had Donald & Goofy to start out with. They were a lot of fun. There was some sort of delay with Mickey & Pluto, so Donald & Goofy just kept making the rounds. Finally Mickey & Pluto showed up. We visited with them and off we went to head to the safari. On our way, we stopped to visit with Pooh and also the Ant Princess. The safari was great – no wait to board. We saw a lot of animals on our trip. Then we did Conservation Station and onto Rafiki’s Planet. There we saw Stanley & Dennis, as well as Pocohontas, and Rafiki. The kids liked the petting area and brushing the goats.

We then had lunch at Tusker House. The food was good. Dh had the salmon & I had the chicken. The kids ate some of our green beans along with their mac & cheese. While the food was good, it felt a little heavy for such a hot day. We used the lunch coupons which were a great deal, especially for the kids. As we left there, we stopped to see the Acrobats. Wow, they were awesome & the kids really enjoyed seeing them.

Then we headed for Camp Mickey. On the way, we saw Lilo & Stitch. Oh, dd was soooo excited to meet Lilo. She told her, “Ohana means family - nobody lefts get behind” It was very cute. As we headed for Camp Mickey, the Pocohontas show was starting, so we went. It was very cute – both kids loved it. Pocohontas was gorgeous and had a beautiful voice. Then onto Camp Mickey to meet with Mickey, Minnie, & Pluto.

Then we headed to Dinoland and rode Triceratops Spins. After that, we headed for the Tarzan Rocks show. It was great. The kids really liked it too, especially the audience participation parts. Then we hit the parade. It was very crowded and we found an indented area where the kids could see, but it was back from the parade route, so the characters didn’t come back in there. Dd3 was yelling, “over here, I’m over here”. Thankfully a few did come back in the little area we were in and see the kids there.

Then we headed out to see Pooh and the gang as dd really wanted to see Piglet. We stopped to use our drinks and ice cream coupons before heading out. AK was my favorite park – I really loved it – the animals, the background music, the lush greenery, and especially the CMs – we found them to be the most friendly out of all of the parks.

We headed to the AK Lodge for dinner at Boma. Mmmmmm! It was very good. The staff there was very nice too. I really enjoyed the salmon, fufu, and the carrot ginger soup. Dh liked it all & I think the chefs had him try everything. The kids enjoyed the fruit and the kids choices. Ds5 liked the corn chowder soup. We were almost too full for dessert, but I had to try the zebra domes and they were quite yummy.

While dh was finishing up eating, I took the kids over the where the men were playing drums and the women dancing. The one lady pulled the kids into dance with her. They loved it! What a special night. Then she took the kids back and let them beat on the drums the men had been playing.

We took a taxi back to CSR. On the way, dd had a fit because I wouldn’t let her change seats mid-trip. She was just exhausted. When we got to the resort, we had a long walk back to the room since we took a taxi and it dropped us off at the front of the resort. Dh & ds went to pick up our pics we had delivered to the resort and I started walking with the tiny terror back to our room. There was a horrible black storm cloud above us and dd was refusing to walk and screaming at the top of her lungs. My hands were pretty full so I was struggling along with her. Thankfully a CM stopped with his golf cart and picked us up to give us a ride to our building. Bless him – we hit the steps just as the sky opened up. Dd was still tantruming as I drug her up the steps. It lasted about ½ hour. Dh & ds ended up stuck at El Centro to wait out the storm – lucky them. Once I finally got her calmed down, I saw we had a message on the phone. It was DMIL asking us to call her. She sounded upset. It took us a few hours to reach anyone to find out what was going on. DFIL was back in the hospital, but was stable so we just kept in touch by phone for the rest of the week. We just hung out in the room that evening after our long day.
