Just wondering what others experiences have been with the autographed pillowcases. I just finished my girl's today and I'm wondering, when they are signed with the permanent markers, does it bleed through to the back? Has anyone lined theirs with something to prevent this from happening??

Thanks
Jenn

i have read of some people putting the section of the pillowcase (or shirt) on a cross-stitch hoop so that it is separated from the otherside of the item

We were on the 2-6 Wonder and had pillowcases signed, they did not bleed through the back. I wish I would have sent in a colored marker though, all the autographs are in black ink.

Our cases were only signed by Mickey and gang...no princesses.

just a note from me -- we did get colored autographs and the red faded very quickly -- i will ask for no red please next cruise

no problem with the marker bleeding through the back though -- i turned in two spankin' new pillowcases still in the wrapping

I also gave brand new pillowcases with 3 coloured markers, they only used the black on mine (did use colours on the photo mattes though).
Note- do NOT pack these next to your wet bathing suits. Even though it is permanent marker, that close contact with a wet item for that long will cause them to bleed. :guilty:
And if you have boys and want the heros to sign (I don't even know if that is an option) then ask up front... my boys were disappointed not to have alladin, etc. on theirs. But still a great idea to which I will be forever thankful to the disers here! :goodvibes

May I ask you...when you handed the photo matte over to them, did you ask for the signatures to be vertical or horizontal or did you leave it up to them? How do you know the direction of your photo before giving it to them?
Also, did you unwrap the plastic of the matte before hand? I bought one at Walmart, the one for a 8x10 picture. Thanks.

I didn't ask, I didn't even think about it. They signed all around so that no matter what direction you use, some signatures will be sideways or upside down. I gave a 5*7 size matte that fits a 4*6 picture. Should have gotten the 8*10 as it has a bigger (wider) matte.
HTH!

ok, thank you. Did you undo the wrapping to the matte first?

I stuck a piece of cardboard in mine and they just placed it under the area they were signing. I also used a laundry marker instead of a plain permanent marker- they are designed for fabric and meant to be washed. You can get them at Walmart.

Emily, I will do that next. I use those at home all the time, don't know why I just bought a three pack of permanent markers. Oh yeah, I do... they were $1! And I just figured to leave them behind.
Jill, I handed in the pillowcases and the mattes in the packaging. I was reading on another thread that someone had their child's picture put on the pillowcase first.... that is a great idea for next time for me.
