In a couple of weeks, we will be making our first visit to Disney's Vero Beach Resort. I have seen sample menus for Sonya's and Shutters on the WDW Information Guide, but I haven't seen much information about "Bleachers Bar & Grill" (which I saw listed in the Member Guide). So, a few questions:
  1. Is Bleachers a counter-service operation? If so, is there an indoor dining area, or do you eat out by the pool (or in your room)?
  2. What is served? The Member Guide mentions hamburgers and hot dogs. What else?
  3. Any recommendations for or against particular items?
[/list=1] Thanks for any opinions...We're really excited about our first visit to VB! ::yes::

1) It is counter service. There are a few tables outside under a pagoda type affair, but these are often taken up by pool users looking for shade in the summer months.
2) Club sandwiches, chicken or tuna salad croissants etc.
3) All the food was pretty good for the genre, for choice I'd probably go for the tuna or chicken croissants if they're on the menu.

  2. What is served? The Member Guide mentions hamburgers and hot dogs. What else? Burgz & dogz, plus pizza, chili, salads, fruit cups, sandwiches, and so on. The quality is pretty good on the whole. Also the standard range of juices, soft drinks (in refillable mugs if you like), beer wine and mixed drinks.
  3. Any recommendations for or against particular items? They have a decent margarita, and pretty good chili. As I said, the quality is pretty good overall.

  1. Enjoy your time in VB. We love it!

You can also get alcoholic beverages (pina coladas are great) from the Bleachers. They also have very good chicken fingers. It's really there to service the pool so during the year it sometimes closes fairly early.

We liked the food from Bleachers; my children especially recommend the chicken fingers and onion rings. ;)

they must do something with those chicken fingers, my kids and husband love them!!!! We ordered about 5 orders last February, brought them up to the room and snacked onthem while watching the Daytona 500! (Actually My DH and kids did, I sat at the pool and pouted because I wanted to go and DH didn't want to leave the kids with the grandparents - so I sold my tickets!!!) but this year I have 4 so no excuses!

You're right, ClarabelleCow, I think the chicken fingers have some Disney magic in them....they are just that good!:teleport: :teleport:
Wish I could have some right now...too bad room service doesn't reach to NJ!

They had a Special on Strawberry Colada's when we were there....let's just say...I took advantage of the special :) and they were VERY good :bounce:

Thanks to all of you for your responses! My children love chicken fingers, so that definitely sounds like a winner. Pumpkinboy mentioned pizza... Any comments on the quality/style/etc. of the pizza?

Thanks for the input! :wave2:

The pizza is pretty good. I seem to remember a pizza special in the evening that included a pizza and "family size" tossed salad. We did this once, taking the food back to our inn room. I think the pizza was available something like 5-10 pm each day.

We also like the appetizer size pizzas available in the Green Cabin Room and in Shutters.

We took pizza back to our room, too.
Seemed ok; definitely easy to order/pick up....always a plus. I don't remember it being anything special, though. Just a regular ol' pizza.

Not great Pizza. Fluffy crust (prefer chewy), uninteresting cheese, and OK toppings. Hey, but maybe I'm a pizza snob :snooty:; we are spoiled by the pizza we make at home, where we make really tasty dough with plenty of olive oil, use good sauce (from a jar tho), a mixture of cheeses (most prominent being mozzarella and asiago), and then rubbing the outer crust with a bit of water and dusting it with a little shredded asiago, and some really good fresh toppings. Yum. But Bleachers' pizza will do in a pinch (tho there are plenty of better things on the menu); and hey, you're at Vero, which is brethtakingly beautiful.
