I just finished a stay at OKW. I had a wonderful time, and a wonderful room 4032. 3rd Floor which I requestedthere was a snake in our 1st floor room is June 2003), dedicated 2 bedroom (more room than a lock out), and really close to the pool(my boys hang out at the pool every night until around 1pm). I used the hot tub 3 nights, even though the weather went down to the mid 50's. It was warmer than at home.
However, on my last day I saw something that kind of upset me if my thinking is right.
During the week I saw quite a few laundry baskets left outside rooms with sheets and towels and the little Tide boxes in them but I figured that the people had put the "Do not Disturb" signs out and the cleaning people couldn't do up the rooms. I had this happen to me in the summer at BCV when my nephew was napping and we changed the sheets ourselves and called housekeeping to pick up the dirty ones.
However on Friday when I was to check out the cleaning staff left a basket of sheets and towels outside my room. I saw it there as we were packing the car, just outside our door. This room does not have another door near it like some of the rooms so I know the basket was meant for my room.
What bothered me was that there were no blankets or quilts to be seen. Do they keep the same blankets and quilts on the beds and change them only if visably soiled?
The quilt I had on my bed in the Master Bedroom had a rip about 2 inches long at the foot fo the bed. It was not something that could be missed, I can't believe that housekeeping could have missed it. I didn't check the blankets because I assumed that they were clean and new. I guess it's true what they say about "assume". Peggie

I'm not positive how they change the blankets. It's possible that they bring them around seperately because they would fill up the baskets and make them pretty heavy to carry.

As for the quilts, if you mean the bedspreads, I don't think these are changed at any of the hotels unless there is a request. I've seen threads with similar discussions. If there is something wrong, like a rip, it would be nice if you let housekeeping know about it. They'll probably bring a new one to your room and/or fix it for the next guest.

I spent one horrible summer while in college working as a maid at a Shereton Hotel. The practice there was to change blankets and bedpreads on a schedule. This was 11 years ago, so it's hard to remember what the schedule was. I think monthly for blankets and every 3 months for the bedspreads. I think the reasoning is that your skin really doesn't touch the blanket or the spread. However, I know we've all seen the investigative reports on TV that shows you haw much grime and other things:eek: can be found in "clean" hotel rooms. At 5 star hotels they double sheet the bed so your skin doesn't ever touch the blanket. I don't know what the policy is at Disney outside of the DVC resorts. I stayed at the BC for my honeymoon, but I don't really remember how they made up the bed;) . This being said, I don't really let it bother me. Since I have a little "inside" knowledge on the housekeeping industry, I scrutinize things a little more closely sometimes, but I have not been disappointed with the cleanliness at Disney.
