Hi guys,
We've been looking for cheap last minute deals from teesside airport (10 miles from us) to spain but are starting to believe that the old great deals don't exist anymore.
Anyway, we decided to try uk attractions and looked on days out with the kids site and got some good ideas. BUT then we remembered we hadn't been to blackpool for at least 5 years, used to go every year for at least a day.
Did a search for good accommodation (don't do guest houses in blackpool!) and liked the look of the de vere, plus I can use our wholesalers at work who specialise in de vere properties. BUT THEN - I found the Big Blue hotel on the pleasure beach - didn't even know it existed, and it looks rather nice!
SO - called airmiles and used 4,500 miles for the 19th august(have 4,700 but natwest aren't adding them to credit card anymore, so won't be collecting them now) to book 2 nights b&b at the big blue + insurance - at a cash cost of a massive £8.25!! Ha Ha! Should have been £185 if paid in cash.
Then went on Tesco deals site and ordered 4 pleasure beach wristbands (£74.50 if bought online from pleasure beach site, £100 if bought on the day) £50 worth of attraction vouchers for tower entrance, and £50 restaurant vouchers for Bella Italia - using £49.75 worth of tesco vouchers!!!
So all we'll have to pay for is food/gifts while we're there!! I think that qualifies as my deal of the year!!!!!
Lynn
