Blackout dates and Free Dining extended

FD has been extended until December 21st. Of course the dates I am going, the dates are blacked out. The CM said those black out dates may change later on and to keep checking. That the dates that are blacked out are usually during busy times. Does anyone know if anything big is going on during in the first week of December besides MVMCP? I was hoping for parks that were not super crowded. Thanks!!!

It's the Pop Warner Football/Cheerleading competitions. I've never been, but heard that the parks are ok during the day.

I called today but because we are traveling from 11/23 - 12/3 we would have to split our resie and it would end up costing us $440 more for free dining. Oh well!

The CM did say to watch towards the end of July - more things to come!!!

Free dining was going on last year during pop warner. I know, because I had to push our trip back a week to avoid the pop kids, because we were staying at POR with free dining.

There doesn't have to be an event, it's probably because the resorts are more filled. They generally are offering the discount to fill in the empty rooms. (Again why it's never a good reason to book prior to a release.)

It is not only POP Warner - the Christmas Parade is being filmed that weekend. Some Disney fan boards still gather at that time as well.

Over the years, we've been several times during the first and second week of December and it is by no means quiet anymore!

I am already booked at POR Oct 21-30

I just called and now I have 3 different ressies:

Oct 21st room only 191.00
Oct 22-29 package with free dining plus, 9 day hoppers
Oct 29th room only 202.00

We are a family of 5 and I just saved a boatload of money and I am soooooo excited!! We have been many many times and never had free dining!

The CM on the phone must have thought I was crazy.

I'm also going 11/10 thru 11/15 with (2) days blacked out. Does Disney still give you the FREE DINING the other days? Already booked with room discount - which discount is better?

just booked nov.30th-dec.7th at pop! so excited it's my first trip and I saved a ton with free dining!

As long as you check in during a non blackout date, you will receive free dining your entire stay. half of my trip is during blackout dates but i still get free dining on those days because i'm checked in before the blackout!

As long as you check in on a non-blacked out date, you'll get FD for your entire stay. We're checking out on Nov. 20 too and I was able to get FD for those dates.

no. You can only do one discount, either the room-only discount with the PIN code OR the free dining. In general, you will save more using room discounts at deluxe resorts. Check the numbers to decide which one would save you more, but every time I've run numbers, the room discount on deluxe wins.

If you're staying value, the free dining will usually save more.

Moderates, depends a lot on family size...if bigger family, free dining might be the better deal.
