I was making my son's baby food when I had an attack of mommy brain and forgot about the pot of apples steaming on my stove. Now I have a blackened charred mess my dog won't even eat! Worse than that, I ruined (I think) a $100 pan! How do I clean this? I tried soaking and scrubbing with a non abrasive pad but nothing really came off. Is there something else I should try?

If it is not a non-stick pan, you could try soaking it with dishwasher detergent and water.

If it is non-stick, try baking soda and water. Or, heat water in the pot to try to get the mess off the bottom, then clean with a baking soda paste.

fill the pan with hot water and a squirt of dishwashing liquid and a handfull of salt. Let it boil for a long time and every so often take a wooden spoon and see if you can scrape off the black on the bottom. IT may take several hours and lots of elbow grease, but it should all come off.
