Blackberry Storm or iPhone....

I am ready to upgrade and like both of these however I am a bit careless with my phones and am leary of getting the Iphone due to the insurance rumors I've been hearing about...

I can't comment on insurance issues, but the IPhone is a significantly better phone. Spend some time playing with both in stores and you will easily see differences. The Storm has had a lot of problems (I know multiple people who have returned it) - I think they were in a rush to get something out to compete with the IPhone but probably jumped the gun too early. However, a new version of the Storm is going to be out in the next few months (search on Google and you should be able to find some preliminary reviews, but the official release date has not been set yet) that is supposed to have fixed a lot of the problems and be much better. If you are looking to go with a Storm, you should wait a few months until the new one is out. That being said, also consider your location - no matter how good the phone is, it is still only as good as the network it is on! In my area, AT&T drops a lot of calls and Verizon is much better - until Verizon gets the IPhone I will be a faithful Blackberry user (currently have the Curve which I do love, but I really, really want an IPhone! ). But I know in other parts of the country AT&T has better service.

I love, love, love my iPhone. I did have it crash w/in the first year and they replaced it for free. I understand that there are more insurance plans out there. I truly just try to be extra super careful. Its worth it to me to have it with no insurance.

Now watch...I'll drop it in the parking lot on the way home and wish I had insurance!!

The Iphone 3GS rocks! Hubby has 3G and is quite envious--he says the 3GS connection speed is "zippy." I had a blackberry before and love my iphone WAY more.

I don't think I could live without my iPhone now that I have it so I'd recommend that.

i have both an iphone (personal) and a blackberry (work).

i like both but hands down i LOVE my iphone. it's much more user friendly and a lot cooler.

Base your decision on the carrier, not the phone. I'd love to have an iPhone, but AT&T service in my area is very bad. A cool phone is no good if I can't get service 1/2 of the time.

I got a Blackberry Storm (through Verizon) a couple of weeks ago. It took me a couple of days to get used to the touch screen, but I really like it now. I've downloaded quite a few applications on it, from the Blackberry App Store, and from Crackberry.com.

From what I've read, the Storm had quite a few problems in the beginning...but new software updates have pretty much fixed everything. I haven't had any problems with mine, but I make sure to do a "quick pull" once per day (resets the phone and completely clears the memory). That is actually a good thing to do with any smart phone.

iPhone all the way! I've played around with my friend's BB Storm and you couldn't pay me to make the switch. My only regret is that Apple will likely come out with a better, faster version by next year.

I have to admit I didn't even want our i-phones, but my hubby did. Well, we've had them about a month and I have to admit I LOVE it!!! Would't go without now.

We are having the same issue. My dh really wants to get the iphone. He actually got one from his boss for free. (yeah). Anyway, he went to ATT and they told him he had to lock into a 2 year agreement. He was livid. He was under the impression that since he didn't buy the phone he wouldn't be locked in. We are apple people, but he is really leaning towards Verizon right now. Just because of the contract thing with ATT. He has also learned that Verizon might be getting the iphone contract next year. So why get locked into a contract? We are looking at the Blackberry curve or storm too. I told my dh that he won't be happy with anything but an iphone! I told him to suck it up and just get the darn thing!!!

DH has had an iPhone since Day 1, and just bought the new 3GS. My boss (tech illiterate) has had several models of Blackberry - and of course I have to program all of them since I'm the tech girl in our dept. I just don't get Blackberries - I can't figure a single thing out without opening the manual! I find almost nothing about it intuitive.
There was an article this week (now I can't find it!) about how Blackberry has a lot of amazing innovations coming soon to their brand, but I don't know.
I guess I'm just an Apple person - and I don't even have a smart phone. LOL I'm looking at getting a smartphone later this year and it's iPhone all the way!
Definitely play with them in the store and see what's right for you!

I have the Storm and its a pretty cool phone but the network folks at my office gave me a real hard time about using it with the office computer. They said that the IPhone would have worked fine but that they needed a special server for the Blackberry. It really messed me up because now I can't sync my office and home calender/contacts anymore.

It is based on the experience of 5 people who switched from the BB to the iphone and the author'e personal experience, who still uses both. It actualy was similar to my experience in swtiching from a Treo (although I never could type with 2 thumbs on my Treo!). You can read it here:
