Anyone have any reviews on this? DH and I are thinking about upgrading right now (Verizon is running buy a Blackberry, get a Blackberry free), and FINALLY dumping our landline.

I love my Storm, although I was not able to take advantage of the BOGO offer. The Storm definitely has its fans but also has a bunch of nay-sayers. If you had a BB before you will not like the Storm unless you are a gadget freak. Definitely recommend going to a VZW store to check it out - extensively first as it does seem to be a love it or hate type of phone.

I have the storm for work. I actually can't stand it. The touch screen makes it so hard for me to type. And I don't have patience for it LOL.

I had the Storm and returned it before the 30 days were up.

I HATED it.

The screen reacted slowly, the touch technology was not well developed and it was difficult to use. Not all at well-designed.

I had a traditional BBerry for a few years prior to the Storm.

After this experience, I switched to the iPhone. Hands down a MUCH superior product.

I highly reccomend against it.

Hi, I am gadget freak.

Hello gadget freak.

I got a B Storm as my new workphone last week.

I like it. It is a huge leap in capability from my old BB.

Pluses
3G network is really fast (no comparison to the old network.......loading.....loading.....searching for.......loading etc).

3.2MP camera & it also takes video (uh resolution isn't great but is perfect for "off the cuff" moments).

16gig memory card. Lots of space for piccies, music and videos for those long flights.

Touchscreen- really easy to scroll around.

Lots and lots and lots of extras. I am going to try the video-conferencing options tonight.

GPS navigation program is surprisingly robust.

Visual voicemail looks promising too.

Minuses
It is big, large heavy too. I put a rubber skin cover on it and cannot find a holster that will fit my BB with the skin on. I suppose I could carry a "man-purse" but would rather get kicked in the teeth.

Touchscreen- gets real dirty. Buy screen protectors for it.

Touchscreen is very sensitive too. To the point where my cheek sometimes activates the speakerphone when talking.

It is difficult to type an email quickly (but I am improving). Same with Disboard posting.

Regards,

I like mine. Got it about 3 weeks ago. Remember that to use the broadband network will cost you about $30 a month on top of all your other charges.

I like the email features and for occasional web surfing. The contact list is pretty nice. You can email .mp3 files to it to use as ring tones which is cool.

You won't be able to transfer your contact list from your old phone to it unless you already have it under MS Outlook on your PC. But I do think Verizon can do it. I don't know if there is a charge but if there is ask for a freebie considering what you pay for the phone and the service.

BB Storm:
landscape texting
MMS (picture/video) texting
can cut & paste from one application to another - like from the web to email

iPhone
no landscape texting
no MMS texting
no cut & paste

These things were important to me, so we went with the Storm. I do love it, and the upcoming software upgrades will improve the speed. I'm going to download a "phone call lock with a slide to unlock" to combat the cheek issue while talking on the phone. I definitely agree with the poster that said to extensively check out the Storm (and the iPhone) before you purchase, especially since you are dumping your land line. Ask the people at the store if there is demo phone that you can borrow to see how your coverage is at your house if you are going to switch carriers.

Verizon can pull it off of your old phone on to your new phone. They moved my contacts from my Alias to my Storm. What you can't do is use the backup manager to reload contacts. A good work around is to save them in Gmail, just in case you ever lose them on the phone. ETA: you can use the Google Sync to sync contacts and your calendars.

I had a bit of a learning curve, but now am enjoying my Storm. Changing to AT&T was not an option, and I wanted a phone that could access the internet when we take the trailer out camping. I did have a problem with the first one I got, but since switching it I've had very little problems. Typing in landscape mode with a full keyboard is great! I've downloaded a free screen lock that locks the screen when you answer the phone, so "screen bump" problem is gone.
