Hi all! :goodvibes Just wondering if anyone out there has either an I Phone or a Blackberry Bold. We are trying to get all the details on both. Please give me the good, the bad, and the ugly. Which would you buy? Any help is appreciated. Thanks, Tink

Hi.. FYI I own a mac and everytime I go in the mac store to have the mac worked on I se at least 4-5 people bringing in the iphone for service, that being said I know a handful of people who are very happy with it! I have a blackberry storm and love it.. Husband has the blackberry curve and is also VERY happy with it!!
Good Luck!:thumbsup2

My DH has the I phone and has not had any problems at all. He actually left verizon which I still have bc my whole family has verizon and none of them live near me, and he went to AT&T just for the I phone. I do not know much about the other but I must say the I phone is pretty cool. All the FREE apps you can get is amazing. I think this app cost money but they do have an app where you can have the Disney them park maps at your finger tips. I guy at my DH work is a huge Disney fan and he has that app and he loves it. My DD5 gets around great on my DH I phone and my DS2 loves the duck game on the I phone. I must say it is pretty neat. It also sort of has a gps in it.

I LOVE my iphone. My husband, father, brother, SIL and nephew all have them. I haven't met anyone who has one who doesn't like it.

I did have a friend who had to take hers in for service twice, once was an issue with the speaker. I can't remember the other issue.

It does have a couple of glitches. One is that it occasionally take a picture of my screen. The picture shows up in my photos. That is kind of weird but not annoying, at least to me.

I have one of the original ones with the smallest memory capability. I have 1300 pictures and about 100 songs and I still don't use even 1/4 of the available memory.

Here is my biggest problem with the iphone. It is addictive!:rotfl:

I just canned the Curve for the iPhone. This is not a fare comparison really. The iPhone is light years ahead of the BB Storm when it comes to technology. I know several people who have tried the Storm and have had very poor experiences with quality. The folks at Verizon & BB were out to lunch when it came to having WLAN on board. One of the many reasons I went with the iPhone...service in my house is not very good so the WLAN connection saves the day for email traffic. Did I mention the thousands of applications that are made for the iPhone? I listen to radio stations all over the world with the Wunder Radio App that cost $6.99. One of the many awesome apps that are available for a one time fee.

I've had my iPhone 3G for about a year and I love it. I haven't had any problems at all. As others have mentioned, there are lots of free applications available, you can connect to WIFI, and I really like having an iPod & cell phone in the same device. For what it's worth, two of my friends who have Blackberry Storms are thinking about switching to iPhones.

Good luck with your decision!

i'm not exactly sure when, but i think my dh was saying that they are releasing a new version of the iphone. I'm thinking its in july time frame, so definitely look into that, or maybe the price of the old ones would drop.

But make sure you are aware of the price of the monthly plans. I have the original iphone, the 3g version, has a price increase in the monthly plan, but was cheaper to purchase.

I love my iphone. A friend dropped his and now the mic phone doesn't work that goes to the ear piece. The regular speaker works...

If you drop it and the screen breaks, on the 3g version apparently the cost of fixing is the cost of getting a new one. dh co-worker had that happen.

They have lots of free apps, but my dh isn't patient enough to wait for things to be free, always jumps the gun and pays for them, then a month or so later someone releases a free version...

I'm boycotting anything Apple related because of the "Shaker Baby" app. So very disturbing, and makes a game out of shaken baby syndrome.

I love, love, LOVE my Samsung Instinct! :thumbsup2

I have a new Blackberry Storm. After much review, I got it and love it. Heads-up for this thread: the Blackberry Storm recently got an upgrade with the free "App World" download menu like two weeks ago. This changes things! :cool2:

Like the iPhone user above, I listen to radio stations around the world on on applications that I downloaded for free. I also downloaded a Poynt (local business finder), Cnn.com, NYT.com, Weatherbug, Googlemaps, etc. all for free through this App World.

If your focus is games, get the iPhone. If your focus is business/travel, get the Blackberry product.
I have several games like Golf, Flightpath, etc. on my phone, but there are just not as many are free game apps as with the iPhone. On the other hand, I found it much easier to send and receive my email on the Blackberry Storm due to its click screen. The phone adapted to my common word usage within a few weeks, and it's a cinch to work with my emails without worrying that my fingers mistyped the message. (The iPhone does not have a click screen).

I do like Mac products: I'm typing in a Macbook Pro right now... However, there is a lot of misinformation out there, and technology is rapidly changing. It's best to go to your local Verizon + Apple stores to check your options.

By the way, to supplement Pal Mickey, Disney is coming out with their real-time park update program for all phones that are on Verizon plans.

For some helpful Blackberry tips, it's worth visiting the forum at Crackberry.com.

Also, I have called the Verizon help phone number for an issue for me to travel to Europe, and the Verizon tech people are truly experts, US-based and very helpful. It's a free call as long as you have the phone plan, and the tech person stayed on the phone with me for 45 minutes to talk to me about some of the cool features that I have with my phone plan. Fabulous service. Best of all: No dropped calls!

That's actually not a glitch, but a feature. It kept happening to me, too, and I was so confused about it.

If you hold down the round button at the bottom of the screen and press the power button at the same time, it will take a picture of your screen and it shows up in photos. I can't imagine why you would want to do that, except maybe for technical support. But try it, you'll see what I'm talking about. :confused3

That being said - I LOVE my iPhone and I've had it for well over a year now. I've dropped that sucker on the floor of my warehouse too many times to count (I'm sooo clumsy!) and it keeps on working. I manage my company's cell phone account and have several iPhone users. One has taken his in several times to have it worked on but each time it's user error (he won't listen to me about how to use it).

DH has the Blackberry Bold and was so happy to get a "phone better than the iPhone." He likes the Bold, but wishes every day he could get the iPhone.

And unless Blackberry has changed something over the last few years, you either have to work in an Enterprise environment that is running a Blackberry Server or you have to pay your provider for the Blackberry service if you want all the features of Outlook with Exchange. You can get email if you are using a POP account but, if you are using Exchange at work, you can't get your calendar and contacts.

My boss has a Blackberry and this is true for his phone....

I LOVE my iphone!!!! It's so easy to use! The apps are amazing! The data package is $30 a month but so worth it to me (when the iphone first came out, it was around $60 month). Did I say I LOVE my iphone?!!

Ok... I have an iPod Touch and a Blackberry Pearl. I LOVE my Blackberry but let me just say that we had AT&T - I'd be on the iPhone like white on rice!

I LOVE my iPod Touch and I use it endlessly when I have WiFi but that isn't all that often. I love the Blackberry to be able to send and receive e-mail ANYTIME and Twitterberry and the Facebook app. But, of course, these are all available on the iPhone and I would MUCH rather have THAT!

It's a long story why we don't switch to AT&T but basically, we have just gotten our Alltel bill to a reasonable level and AT&T coverage is just not that great in this area. If/when we ever get AT&T, I'll be trading in my iPod Touch for the full blown iPhone!

Also love my iPhone. I haven't had any problems with it, though it's kind of expensive. I thought the 3G network for Internet was pretty spotty on a recent road trip to WDW, but that would be the same with anything on the 3G.

The iPhone is super easy to use. The GPS feature worked great when we got lost in Orlando, lol.

I love my iPhone (I have the original.) I would just love more space on mine because it is full! I love the applications. I have public radio, I can listen to our Sirius account with Pocket Tunes. I have Stanza and Kindle aps to read if I feel like it. TwitterFon, AIM, Google Earth, Translator, the London Tube, Metro Paris, City Transit (NYC subway and busses), several games, iExpensit it, Yoga Trainer, recepie programs for food and drinks, etc, etc. Many are free. I love that I can listen to podcasts I download or watch a movie. It is great whn traveling. Maybe the new version will have more space!

You sound like me.....I love my iPhone and it is fairly full. I love that it is an all-in-one device. Phone, internet, text, e-mail for my business and then so many other fun uses like podcasts, and audiobooks. It has GPS, weather maps that also helps me throughout my work day (I drive a lot and spend a lot of time outdoors). And I love being able to keep up with the financial markets and news around the world the day.

Hey, there's even a cool app with all of the WDW parks!

I have the original version and skipped the second version because it didn't offer much more than the original package. But the new one.....coming in June.....I'll be in line for that puppy.

I read an article on Friday about 9 banned App Store apps, and that was one of them. It seems that if it was ever on the App Store (I can't remember exactly), it was pulled shortly after it was approved. I do not believe this app is now available.

Apple seems pretty strict about what they will and won't approve - and may actually be getting stricter due to publicity about this app and similar objectionable apps. I have experience in mCommerce, and Apple seems to be doing a really good job for someone new to the market.

I'd plump for one of the modern iPhones. VERY groovy!
