Blackbeard's Cay Beach & Stingray Adventure?

We have been wondering the same thing. We are torn between this and Atlantis, and there just are not likely enough hours to do both.

Hi all.....new to disney board.....DH, kids and I going on wonder in july......wondering about same excursion. Sounds good but is it worth the expense? :cool1:

Having now done a little bit of research, it may be of interest to some here to know that you can book a room at the Atlantic resort (still trying to find how to get a 'day room'), which gets you everything at Atlantis (aquarium, water park, etc.), including the Stingray feeding.

We took this excursion on our November 2004 cruise. There were 5 of us: me, DH, DS11, DD8 and DD4. The beach was clean and the water was perfect! I wasn't interested in doing the stringray portion (honestly, I was a little scared of them!) But my DH, DS11 and DD8 did. We couldn't get DS out of the stringray area. He didn't even go onto the beach side.

It was plenty of time - not too much not too little. They provided lunch which was just hamburgers/hotdogs but good for a beach day. We had our own set of lounge chairs a few feet from the water. So, all in all, it was a great day.

Let me just say that in preparing for the trip, I keep telling my DD4 that I couldn't wait to swim in the ocean with her. She has never been to the beach before (we live an hour or so from the nearest Jersey beach - but I have problems with going in water when you can't see your feet!) So there was just no way we were going to the Bahamas and not going to the ocean.

I am glad to hear that it was a fun excusion, because a second call to the Atlantis resort has confirmed that there is fish feeding but only stingray viewing, so if you want the real stingray adventure, well, stick with the stingray adventure excursion.

When comparing the Blackbeard's excursion with Atlantis, we feel that the kids get something more unique on the first. While Atlantis will be of interest to us, the kids will look at the aquarium the same as any aquarium. But the stingray feeding is something special.

I have a question about that excursion: My dd7 and I might want to do this excursion, but my question is, do you just walk from the beach area into a shallow area and the stingrays come up to you? Or do you have to snorkel out a little ways out to get to them? Thanks.
