Hiya

Ok so my 2007 tip involves black friday.

Can any one tell me about this?

Will the Florida Mall have things on sale?

Also I am considering staying at the mall hotel the night before as chris can then stay in bed while I shop what do you think

thanx anna

I would ask over on the community board for more details, but from what I've read before there are sales every where. I know my American friend doesn't go as she doesn't like crowds, it reminded me of the "real" sales we had when I was little!

I think if we were were over we couldn't resist going, even if it does mean an early morning ;)

I am sure the Florida malls will all have killer deals on black friday!! You have to get there REALLY early for the best deals (like 5am) and there will be TONS of people there! It is the busiest shopping day of the year here!! Good luck, I have got some awesome deals on the day after Thanksgiving!!

You might want to buy the local newspaper on Thursday, which is Thanksgiving. It will be FULL of "Black Friday" ads! :thumbsup2
Be sure to watch the news on TV that night, you might be on! :happytv:

Wow you really are a shopaholic!!!

I went on black Friday last year and it was packed!! We got some great bargains tho. I wouldnt bother staying over at the mall, just get there early.

When is black friday and what is it? :confused3

Thanks

I can shop for England, but this sounds like my worst nightmare come true!

I think it would be too crowded for me.....

Black Friday is the day after Thanksgiving - so 24th November this year. It is traditionally the day that super sales start in US shops. Someone was telling me that they were there and went shopping but never again. Shops were packed - they saw 2 women having a fight (literally - punches the lot) over a handbag.

We have only been just before Thanksgiving before and the sales start earlier than Black Friday with lots of bargains around. We're going 25th Nov this year - do the sales continue after Thanksgiving up to Christmas?

It was packed last year but not unbearable and I didnt see any fighting!!

Yes, the sales do continue up to Christmas, but nothing like the Black Friday sales. These sales are a special promotion where certain items at limited amounts are offered at give-away prices. The fights occur because the store might, for example, offer a $100 name brand digital camera for $29. The catch is, the store has only 20 of these cameras to sell and the low price is only good for, say, the first hour or so after store opening. The serious shoppers will be sleeping in their cars to be first in line to burst into the store at 5:30 or 6:00am in order to try to wrestle as many of those cameras as they can away from other shoppers. It's not a pretty sight. :sad2:
Some shoppers bring friends so that they can fan out as a team, and hit other areas of the store simultaneously. As in, "I'll go for the digital cameras, you try to get as many of the tennis racquets as possible and I'll meet you over at the toys!"
It's not for the faint of heart!

That sounds awful. I like shopping but not like that, sounds likea nightmare, shopping should be a pleasant thing to do.

We always go for Thanksgiving usually flying out a couple of days before, this year going on the 22nd. Reasons for this are it's our wedding anniversary on 26th (will be 5 years since we got married at The Wedding Pavillion), the sales and because the parks are lovely and quiet the week after Thanksgiving. We tend to get to the sales around 6am, having the whole day as a shopping day. We usually go to the Premium outlet malls first for trainers and clothes from Nike, clothes from Ralph Lauren, Clothes and boots from Timberland, Tommy Hilfiger and the list goes on. We also go to Florida Mall, Mall at Millenia, and the Prime Outlets. This time will be also buying clothes and toys for Josh for Xmas. Although all the times we have been to Orlando we have never been to the LBV factory stores which is on our list for this visit and we always stay in LBV! Strange that!
Although this time we will have little Josh in tow so will have to go at a slower pace, mind you DH and I may take it in turns to watch Josh for a couple of hours at a time so we can both go off on our own to get what we want.

Anna, the trouble we have is everything we want to bring home we can't as we run out of space, even with 2 suitcases each!

I don't think I can imagine anything worse :scared1: Good luck with it Anna and well done for thinking about getting a room at the mall so that Chris doesn;t have to endure this torture ;)

Its when the retailers come out of the red and into the black (they go into profit)
