Black Friday - xbox live or hard drive?

Has anyone seen advertised Black Friday or Cyber Monday deals for either xbox live 12 month memberships or hard drives for the xbox 360? Son needs both and I am hoping to find deals...but most seem to be package deals with the console & games.

Target has 50% off a $24.99 3 month membership....also, check out Youtube to view how to install a hard drive on your model xbox....then check out Amazon for hard drives. I did this and got a no name hard drive for like $50 dollars, and installed it myself! So far it works great...for almost a year.

There are always sales on Xbox Live Gold memberships. Just look using Google.

I agree that the no name Xbox hard drives on Amazon are fine. I saved a lot of money buying one of these and it has worked well for several years. Installation involves opening a door in your Xbox and dropping it in.

Ok...so the guy at Gamestop told me that Microsoft could somehow detect a "no name" hard drive while gaming online and kick him off. True or false? (seems false but I don't want to waste $50).

I will do a search for xbox live deals. The Target one isn't that much of a savings...I seem to remember last year Microsoft actually had a huge discount for a few days on their site so that's what I was hoping for!

That is an absolute lie! I would complain to the manager. Many Xbox users aren't using Microsoft brand hard drives.
