A while back someone posted that they were eagely awaiting Black Friday this year. Anyone know when the site begins to post the items on sale. If you use Blackfriday.com, what is the earliest that you have been able to find out what stores were selling what?

BF is the day after Thanksgiving. Many companies close down for the long weekend, and many people take a day off. It is when most stgores have extremely super sales, but are also crowded beyond belief.

From About.com:

Definition: The day after Thanksgiving in the United States, is frequently referred to as Black Friday.

General Use: One of the major U.S. holiday shopping days. The day many U.S. consumers begin Christmas shopping. The day is heavily promoted by retailers.

Origin: The origin of Black Friday comes from the shift to profitability during the holiday season. Black Friday was when retailers went from being unprofitable, or "in the red," to being profitable, or "in the black", at a time when accounting records were kept by hand and red indicated loss and black profit.

A week to two weeks out the lists start showing up, Print the list as fast as possible because as soon as the stores find the sights that have them, they make them Delete the info.

Wal-mart will have - SPECIAL BUYS- that are like what you want but are a different issue no# Do Not expect to see these things in May of the next year and because of this buy servicing for them at the time of purchase!!! You won't be able to get them fixed without it.

I checked out www.blackfriday.com but it looks like some type of search engine. Is this the correct website for the listings of black friday sales items? I realize it is too early to see postings but does anyone else have a better online source for this information?

Thanks.

You will see some BF lists on certain sites.

You will see them on shopping sites, such as freebie, coupon boards, and shopping boards.

Just do a Google search for Black Friday 2004

I keep old lists from prior years, and I did have a spreadsheet with old fliers in a file. I scope out the stores two nights prior, if you go late enough you can see them putting out merchandise.

I usually map out which stores to go to a few days prior, and make a map of the store. Then I go, grab what Ineed, and get out.

If I remember right. Last year I was able to order the Black Friday sales on Thanksgiving Evening for what was going to be on sale the next day in the store (That is Toys R US) all online. And free shipping. It was great not to have to get up at 4 am and do my shopping. Although I must admit I really missed all the buzz and excitment of getting a deal in your cart.

Hopefully I can do the same thing this year.

Black Friday is one of my favorite days of the year!!

Some of the ads will come out 2-4 weeks early, but there are also lots of fake ads that come out early, so be careful. Also, make sure you copy or print anything you find. The stuff disappears very quickly! Here is the list of sales from 2003:

Black Friday Sales 2003

**sigh** I'll be missing the sales this year since we'll be at the Ron Jon Resort waiting to board the Magic on Saturday. The sacrifices I make for my family!;)

We usually hit our local Disney store on Black Friday. This year we will be down in WDW for Thanksgiving. Does anyone know if there are any special sales in Downtown Disney on Black Friday or at any of the Disney outlets? We usually go to JC Penney also. The past two years they have had a special Mini Disney Waterglobe on Black Friday that they give out at opening. Any JC Penney stores down near WDW?

Awww...see, where else but the Dis could you find people who are willing to go the extra mile for you like this? It brings a tear to my eye! ::yes::

I have got to hand it to you guys who get up that early to go shopping. I really don't function that well that early in the morning. LOL!!!

Anyone live in Ohio? Maybe I will give my shopping list to them. LOL!!!!

Everyone have fun on Black Friday!!! And be nice, no pushing and/or shoving!! LOL!!!

It can actually be pretty jovial with people helping others in the lines and getting acquainted, school groups selling coffee and donuts, and everybody comparing notes on the best deals. I wouldn't sleep a wink after 3 AM if I tried to stay home.

Some of the ads start popping up around the first of November. :bounce: It's so exciting to start seeing them. As you can tell by my tag, I love Black Friday. :teeth:

If the thought of the crowded frenzy of Black Friday gives you the shivers, you could also take part in Buy Nothing Day---try to go the entire day spending absolutely no money. It's even cheaper than the sales! ;)

More seriously, I've been campaigning for years amongst our family to start "cutting back" in the holiday gift-giving department. Every year I ask myself what fraction of the barrage of gifts I buy or receive are actually useful and used? Less than I would hope, unfortunately.

Wow, I have really appreciated reading these tips. I never have had the guts to get up early and face the BF crowds. I am inspired by how much you guys have enjoyed it! I will be at the Grand Canyon this year so I won't be able to hit the stores but maybe I can score some deals online!

Ok, here's a dumb question...how does everyone find out about the sales so far in advance?
