Black Friday price matching

I read on a post earlier this week that somebody mentioned that Target will actually match a Black Friday price for an item that you buy up to 14 days ahead of time. (in other words if you buy it on Monday, then it goes on sale for Black Friday, that you can bring in your receipt, and they'll discount the item for you).
Does anybody know if all stores (specifically Best Buy and or Walmart) do the same thing?
I'm asking because we will be coming to the states in 2 weeks and there are a couple of items that I really want, but am afraid that if I wait until Black Friday, they might not be available, but if I get them when we first get there (a couple of days before Friday, there is more of a chance that they will be available), and then I could just go on Black Friday and get any discounted price.

Also, if they do this, does it also include the special Door Buster items? I know Best Buy can be notorious for offering certain items for really, really low prices (for the first 2 hours of BF), but only have like 10 of them in the store. Would they actually match the prices on these special items as well?

Thanks for any info.

Wow, thanks for the heads up. the Nikon D3000 is one of the items that I plan on getting, and that is the best price I've seen it at.
What's interesting though, is that if you go to Staples web site, they don't even offer the D3000 as an item for sale (they only list the D40 and the D5000). I wonder if they are going to get in a special shipment of them for Black Friday, or if they really do sell them, but just don't list it on their site.

I'll have to keep checking their site to see if they add it before Black Friday.

Wal Mart and Best Buy will price match but I am not sure about offering a price adjustment like Target does. You might call BB because I think I remember seeing something about it on one of their in store signs.

Also from my understanding the price adjustments for Target do NOT include the door buster items...kind of a bummer!

My understanding, and I follow the Black Friday section of Slick Deals closely, is that any store (even Target) is very YMMV with this type of thing. I have not seen any official explicit policies for any major retailers. Some locations will do it, many will not. Many that will do it will require that the item is in stock at the location being pricematched (which is normal pricematching policy almost anywhere).

In other words, I wouldn't believe what you read.

Yeah, I'm still wondering about price matching for Door Busters. Since the whole purpose of the door busters seems to be to try and get you to come into the store (and hopefully stock up on lots of other items that you weren't actually planning on getting) it would seem kind of self-defeating for a store to price match itself on these items.

This is part of my dilemma. Since we are normally only back in the states for a week or so every year, I really want to make sure that I am able to get the items we want (even the regular prices are typically much better than we can get down here in Mexico), but if I can save quite a bit by getting them on sale that would be even better. So do I go ahead and get the items when we first get there, and not worry about the door buster prices, or do I take a chance and wait for Black Friday, and hope to get what we want at the lower cost (with the possibility of not getting the items if they are sold out - we'll be leaving to come back a couple of days later so if they sell out we'd probably not be there when they finally do get more in stock).

That is pretty much why I'm trying to find out if they would price match Door Busters (or other one day sale prices) if you buy them early.
I'll probably go ahead and get the things we need / want when we first get there, and then just hope that I might be able to get a discount later. (or I might even get it (specifically the camera) right away, and if necessary buy a second one on BF, and then return (unopened) the original purchase, if price matching isn't an option. - I'm not sure if I like that idea, but I suppose it would be another option to consider).

I think usually these companies will price match (I just had a local mattress company price-match Westin heavenly bed mattress for me this week and save me $500!), but I think the entire purpose of these door-buster sales on Black Friday is to get people into the door of their store and not their competitor. Price matching for 14 days would totally defeat that purpose.

I guess you could call around and see if that is true. It just doesn't make logical sense to me.

I work at Best Buy and I will tell you that we do not price match door busters.

I was going to say that from previous years, no Best Buy does not price match their "door buster" prices. Someone "who had a contact at BB" told a good friend of ours that they would and he found out that no they don't. We tried to tell him they don't.....why do you think all those people camp out in front of BB. They knew that BB has a strict policy on their black friday ad's.

I will also say, that you have to look very closely at the Target ad. It was a couple of years ago, it stated that they would not price match, prices were only good for purchases made in the store on that day, during such and such hours.

We do this almost every year. Just last night, we went and got something for the kids. Between now and Christmas, not just BF, I will be checking the ads every week to see if this goes on sale. If it does, either lowering the price or buy X and get whatever, I have no issue buying the item again, then returning it on my original receipt.

I've bought things online on Thanksgiving Day and Black Friday at BB and Circuit City. They will ship to you or you can pick up in the store. I would imagine other stores must do this. So much easier than battling the traffic and crowds.

Or you can buy it now, save $10, and not have to pay tax: http://slickdeals.net/forums/showthread.php?t=1661246

So far I haven't seen much to get excited about for Black Friday. Despite the economy performing badly, it seems B&M has given up on Black Friday in the past couple of years. I wonder if maybe Black Friday has gotten so 'big' that stores do well on reputation alone. Put another way, stores don't have to offer great deals because customers have the impression that Black Friday deals are great by virtue of being offered on Black Friday.

Good deal but it looks like you do not get a battery or charger? :confused3 I'm I wrong ,I did not see it listed
