meh. It looked cool and all, but it was totally staged. If I were one of the real fans stuck a block and a half away from the stage because the front was full of a bunch of "viral dancers" I would be really PO'd.
I think most of them were real fans. There was definitely a front bunch who were the paid dancers, thn the regular fans were interspersed amoung the dancers. And the further back, the more regular people.
The producers probably had an open call for people who were willing to dance and be on TV for the Oprah show. Just from seeing on the news when there are open calls here in NYC for American Idol and Tyra Banks had one for America's Next Top Model, the lines go literally down and around a couple blocks.
In fact, there wasn't enough security at the last Next Top Model auditions and it turned into a mob scene where girls got trampled (or something,)


I'm sure there are just as many people (fans) in Chicago who would turn out for an open call to be on international TV.
