I am having black bridesmaid dresses-- I have always wanted black, I just think it is so elegant. The wedding is December 18 at Sea Breeze Point. Now I just can't decide if I want all white/off white flowers or a deep red. Anybody have any opinions or suggestions?? Should my BM's carry one color and I carry another??? I have no idea b/c I like both!!!!

I think that it would be neat for you to have your BM's flowers a different color than yours I know this is a stupid question but is your dress just plain white or ivory and is there any color to it? If there is no color to it and it's just a plain white or ivory color I would say that you should go with the red bouquet and have your BM's carry white or Ivory color flowers. But that is just my opinion.

You can carry a mix of all red and white roses (just roses).

Have your MOH carry all red (or all white) mix of flowers (not all roses)

Have your other BM's carry the other color (if your MOH has all red, then BM's carry all white; if MOH has all white, BM's carry all red) but again, these should be a mix of other flowers, not all roses.

Just an idea...I know someone who did something similar for her wedding. The BM's all wore black and we had lavendar/lilac/purple colored flowers. The brides bouquet was all lilac and white roses, the MOH's bouquet was mixed white/lilac flowers (some roses), and all the other BM's had a mix of lilac flowers.

That is kind of what I have been thinking. I haven't actually purchased my dress, but the one that I am GOING to get is white (not bright bright white), but has no other colors on it-- just some rhinestones.

Thanks for the opinion -- keem 'em coming

I like hiwaygal's suggestion to mix it up with your BMs. I had only a MOH. I carried a mix of ivory and burgundy (deep, deep red) roses (just roses, no greenery or anything - it was SO heavy!) and she carried a burgundy 3-rose wand.

I was in a wedding where the bride wore a white dress and carried an all red rose bouquet and we BMs had smaller versions with red and white roses and wore silver dresses. That was stunning in the pictures.

Listen to Rosie's suggestions. You cannot go wrong with her! It was like she read my mind and knew exactly what I wanted and what would look the best. Disney floral is very talented ::yes::

Thank you all so much for your suggestions and inputs -- I think I will discuss it with Rosie and see what she thinks about it!! Thanks Again!!!

The flowers that we have picked are an array of colors, as many have suggested. My dress is ivory with gold detailing. And because we are having a holiday wedding, our flowers will be red and ivory. My bouqet is all deep red roses with gold beading, MOH will carry all ivory roses with gold beading (her dress is deep red) and my 2 other BM will carry a mixture of the two roses.

I'm a wedding photographer, so I thought I would chime in...You might want to think about what it will look like in the photos....and 2nd the scent. My brother got married recently and the brides bouquet had oleanders in it & had an overpowering smell.

Also, the BM carried different colored Christmas balls with a thick ribbon. The bride was the only one with flowers. I was surprised -- it was pretty!

Back to the colors and photos -- if you take B&W photos: red flowers against a white dress look stunning. The contrast is VERY sharp, well defined, and can really look timeless in photos (color & B&W). If you use a pale bouquet -- it tends to mix in with the gown.

The opposite will be true of your bridesmaids, since they will have black gowns. Light or white bouquets will look more striking. As a photographer, I would use the red bouquet with your dress and the light bouquets with the BM dresses -- and add a filler flower with s dark tone -- like dark purple lithium. Its really pretty and will offer a little continuity and make the bouquets look grounded in the photos.

Happy Wedding!

My BM's wore black dresses and had red and burgundy roses and my gown was diamond white and I had a cascading bouquet of all whites roses, gardenias and calilillies. It was beautiful.

I had a December wedding and my bridesmaids carried pink bouquets. I used a light pink Anna rose in my bouquet from Dream Designs florist. My gown was bright white. I can't post photos on here yet because of my post count but as soon as I'm allowed, I will put some up.

For my vow renewal (end of Oct '04), I wore an ivory dress and my bridesmaids wore black dresses. I wanted a pastel-colored bouquet for myself and chose to have it duplicated on a slightly smaller scale for my bridesmaids. My bouquet was tied with ivory ribbons while my bridesmaids' bouquets were tied with pale pink ribbons.

I chose flowers that I wanted. I humbly suggest that you do the same. It is your day. Make it personal and memorable.

Have fun planning. And congratulations on your upcoming wedding.

A friend and co-worker of mine just got married, and her girls were in black. I made her silk bouquets for her and her girls, and since her colours were black white and silver, I went with White roses with small black accent flowers, and silver holly with silver ribbon draping down from the bouquet.
