Welcome to week 5! Blue team had a GREAT week last week! :cheer2: Lets see if we can keep our success going and win another week of WISH style Biggest Loser!!!!

Please make sure to weigh in today and PM your weight and what team you are on to dare2dream or email to brenda@kbelectric.biz. If using email please also include your DIS screen name.

How did everyone do on the COW challenge? Please email or PM Raenstoirm your scores from last week beginning Today. Her email is ferretfeet@gmail.com if that is easier. Don’t forget to include your board name, team color and of course your score.

Now for the second COW, please see this thread: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1977616

This is one that I know we can all do great on!!! Lets see if we can get the Max scores!:dance3:

During this time, lots of our friends fall of the BL threads. Loss of motivation, frustration or dissapointment with a lower loss (or gain) than expected, etc. PLEASE stay plugged in to the thread, even as a lurker... it helps to commiserate with everyone. This is meant to be a fun way to loose weight, make friends, and have some comeraderie as we work on getting healthier. It isn't a sprint, it is a long distance marathon... and we can all do it, I know it! Lets help each other through that week 4-5 slump, motivate, inspire and cheer on those small victories!!!

So for this week, lets post those small victories that are going to be the building blocks to a healthier you!
Here's hoping that everyone has a magical, losing week!

Way to go BLUE!

Hi everyone.

Well I almost chicken out and wasn't going to post...

I had a big gain this week and it really was well deserved...I gained 3 pounds...sorry blue team.:sad2:

I was really snacking right before supper everyday...talked with dh and we figure it was because I cut back on my morning calories this week hoping it would help me get in the 160's...instead it did the opposite...so now I know I am going to try extra hard this week and write down everything I eat before I eat it. I did my challenge this week and did okay with it though. My realage is great...I am 30.6 but I am really a year older.

Well, I took a look at this thread with EVERY intention of not posting because when I weighed myself this morning I had a substantial gain. When I saw the scale I told myself "i'll weigh again after work and THEN I'll email brenda." Jaime was brave enough to post and I realized I needed to do so as well. I'm still going to check again later today :) ...sorry, I just have to!! Last week I had a bad "mental" week and lost...this week I got my attitude up but just couldn't seem to keep doing all the right things.

Whenever I watch The Biggest Loser I just feel so motivated and really do talk myself into a good place. I definitely WANT to lose weight. I really NEED to lose weight. I talk about it all the time...I just don't follow it. But today is a new day and a new week so I am going to fill my water mug now! And after work tonight my hubby and I are going to take a walk. It's supposed to be a great weekend (weather) here in Cleveland, OH so I am GOING TO take advantage of it and go to the parks for some walks!

Thanks to everyone who continuously post on the board....even though I don't post often, just reading the posts is SOOOO motivating!!

Good Morning Blue. I'm very excited - I lost 3 pounds this week. My goal was the same as yours Jaime to hit the 160's, today I was 168. Next week you will do it! I walked and drank A LOT of water this week. I constantly thought of my Blue team. At night if I wanted a snack, I had a 40 calorie Fudgsicle - ice cream is my weakness and I've found that these curve my cravings.

I want to thank you all - Blue was my motivation this week. - Lisa.

Surprisingly enough, I'm down a bit this week. I wasn't around last weekend because DH and I went away. Did manage to get a couple of walks in though.
Even though none of my nice clothes fit, I'm having a REALLY hard time finding motivation, especially when my REAL AGE came up 6 years older than what I really am!
But this is a new week and let's see what happens!
I'm surprised I lost this week because last weekend was all about eating and celebrating our anniversary and this week I made some rather nice meals for the family.
MOre later, time to get everyone up for school!

Keep on trucking blue!:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Hey everyone - Well I lost .4 this week. I really expected more this week.............but I'll take it, it's a loss and it's MOVING in the right direction. One day, one week at a time. I CAN DO THIS!! WE CAN DO THIS! (Thanks to Bev-Allreadyexcitedgrammy for my mantra- We CAN DO THIS!)

For those who gained- Remember it is just water mostly - you can't gain 3 pounds or even 1 in a day or two. Your body is just reacting and filling your cells with extra fluid because you upped your calories some. If you get back on track quickly, it will be gone in a day or two. I had a more than 3 lb gain a few weeks ago, and i got back on track and lost that plus another 1.6. You can do this!!

Hypermommy-
I saw that you were looking for a website to calculate the calories you eat -

Sparkpeople.com will compute that when you first join and set up an account. You fill in the blanks and it calulates it for you and gives you a range. It's a great resource, if you don't belong - even if you don't do calories, I would say it would be worth it to join and get the info. Lots of great articles, message boards, recipes, OH AND I LOVE the recipe builder that figures out calories - you could even use this to figure weight watcher points. I use this for my personal recipes so I can figure out calories per serving. I usually use a cup or half cup per serving or if its square i'll cut it into pieces etc. This is invaluable to me.

As I posted on the other thread, I gained a pound. I've counted my points, I have not eaten any FLEX points, and I've got an entire DAYS worth of points banked from exercise. I really don't know what's wrong with my body.:sad1:

As scary as it sounds, I'd probably experiment with eating some of my flex and banked exercise points. I'm thinking you may not be getting ENOUGH to eat and your body is holding on to it because it feels threatened. When I lost on WW's - I usually ate most of my flex as well as exercise points. I also found it helpful to mix things up. One week eat them all, one week eat a few, one week eat half, etc. Also mix up the number of points your eating in a day. If you eat 22 points for the entire week, your body gets used to 22 points. It learns to live on 22 points and (just like with exercise) it plateau's. Your body does best on mixing it up and keeping it guessing (just like exercise). If you vary it, your body will keep guessing and it rev's up your metabolism. I do the same with calories. For instance today and tomorrow will be my highest calorie days, then I'll have some mid calorie days mixed in with some lower calorie days.

Everyone is different though, so you have to listen to your body and experiment. Everyone's mileage will vary.

Hey Blue!

I am a lurker here to report my Thursday victories. I did drink my water, I did exercise, and I did stay OP perfectly all day. I do have my menu to start on Monday but I have not developed a plan for my three days off. So far I am not off to a good start. This morning after leaving a breakfast buffet feeling full but not satisfied I realized it is quality not quantity. This buffet had a huge variety and quantity of food but it was not the best quality for my body. When I am OP my body gets the best food that it really needs. When I cook fresh well prepared meals in my home they are much better for my body. On my days off I need to also adhere to that. Quality not quantity.

I had a huge lengthy rambling post composed that had tears streaming down my face. Yes I am an emotional basket case. I think this was all prompted by a weight report from someone on another team that is not doing too well. She has had health issues and medication and a gain and no losses. She is frustrated and said she wants to drop out and apologized for wasting my time. I just wanted to reach through the computer and give her a huge hug. This is not easy. This is hard, really, really, really hard. We need to stick together. We need to encourage each other. We need to be committed (in a good way). We need to do this right here right now. We need to change our lifestyles to live healthier for us. This will benefit our families and our friends. We can be the example. We can show them it can be done.

Awww Brenda that would have gotten me too! We are all here for each other. We need to help each other... Would be easier if we could all hug through the PC screen

:sad1: :sad1: OMG...okay now I have tears rolling down my face...your are right this is so hard but at the end of the day we will all benefit so much from it...everyone has setbacks and we all can overcome them! Thank you so much for reminding me of that!

I am so proud off everyone who lost weight this week but for anyone who gained like me this week...we can do this...we need to do this:hug:

I am having a good food day...I made sure I had a big healthy breakfast today(one boiled egg...one slice of whole wheat bread with a slice of no fat cheese(no butter)...a banana...and a yogurt). This kept me full until lunch time and since my trouble was snacking in the afternoon all week I decided to pop a bag of smart pop popcorn and leave it in the kitchen...I have been munching on it all afternoon and have avoid any other temptation...this really helped me keep my calorie count on track today.

Have a great week everyone:goodvibes

Well despite my frustration at not losing I am keeping with this, I just need to work harder! You all are such great motivators. :goodvibes

I took my computer to Geek Squad and had to check it in (Translation: they have no foggy clue what's wrong with it because it's so unusual.) Thankfully my parents have an extra laptop I can use in the interim, so I am back!

Sadly, I gained a pound this week. :( Next week will be better.

Jaime, Hang in there! It is great that you talked to your DH and worked to figure out what wasn't working. So glad you had the courage to post. It shows true character to hang on through the tough times. We are all in this together and some days are up, and some are down. Now that you know what didn't work, you can go back to what was working for you! Slow and steady wins the race. and if you look farther down the thread... you motivated someone else to post, the strength of a team makes us all stronger.

njmom23grls, a loss is a loss, so celebrate!!! :thumbsup2

Sparky47 I am glad that Jaime helped motivate you to post. This is "crunch time" and we need to stay on and motivate each other. Cheer each of us on and support one another. It isn't always easy to report a gain, but by doing so, it empowers us, frees us up to have a successful week to follow. I know you can do it, enjoy the beautiful weather and nice long walks.:cool1:

hobbester , way to go on losing the 3#!:yay: You will be a motivator for many of us this week! Great job getting in the water and walking. Sure looks like it helped you keep on track and have a losing week!

wwwosie , congrats on losing this week. I know what you mean about the real age test. it tested me 4.4 years older. But just think, in a couple of months you can take it again, after making some changes it should show you lower! That is something to work towards, and I hope to see some great numbers soon.

MelanieC , congrats on the loss, and you are right, it is in the right direction. all those bits and pieces of weight loss really add up to big number losses! Keep up the great work.

Briarmom , MelanieC gave you some great advice. It's true, variety is the spice of life, and maybe you do need to vary your points intake. Can you try the core plan for a week? Maybe something different? I also would take my tracker to the WW leader and see if she has some advice for you. The other thing that I might add is, are you measuring everything? Sometimes those hidden points in "guestimates" can add up.:flower3:

dare2dream You said it all! I will copy it again, because I couldn't have said it better myself....

this biggest loser is the best thing for us. We have a safe haven of support. No one judges us here, we are here to help one another and we totally "get" what each of us is going through. Your words are right on. And I am sending you a hug, I know you have had your ups and downs, and please know that YOU ARE WORTH IT, and YOU ARE A GREAT FRIEND, AND DESERVE all the love and acceptance in the world. Hang in there my friend. :jumping3:

Lifelong_Dreamer, So glad that you are here with us. Not losing can be so frustrating, but the support, hints and tips learned from this site can certainly help you along your journey. :grouphug:

Eeyores Butterfly, hang in there, your gain this week will be lost next week. Just a blip on the radar as you work toward a healthier you. That is great your parents have an extra laptop. I feel so lost when I don't have a computer at hand. :surfweb:

Howdy!
I had no gain or loss this week and find myself quite frustrated...but I will continue to plug along! I exercised like crazy and drank lots of water. I was having soup for lunch each day and so maybe it was the sodium that prevented the loss??

Or as my daughter said earlier today, maybe my body does not realize the value of positive reinforcement! :)

Hang in there everyone....and thanks for all your posts - they are so helpful. It means so much to know that I am not the only one struggling with this weight loss battle!!

I did pretty good this week. I lost 2#. I did have some unfortunate incidences with a dorritos bag, but I guess the evenings where I avoided snacking seemed to help. I also turned in 45 COW points. I hope to do better this week.

I am starting to dread our flight to Orlando. Why??? Because of the seat belt. Last time I had to ask for an extender.:sad2: I was mortified, but my DD didn't have a clue. This time if I need to, DH will be there and again I'll be mortified. I think I will clue him in that this may happen. I am 16# lighter than when I went last year, but I don't think that it will make that big of a difference. **SIGH** I guess I'll deal with it, but it may be a VERY uncomfortable flight.:sad1:

I forgot to add this into the first post for this week.... SORRY!!!!!
Friday QOTD: What was your proudest moment this week concerning your new life style?

QOTD - proudest moment was seeing over 10,000 steps on the pedometer for the day when I took it off on Monday.

It really helps to know I'm not alone in this struggle for a healthier life and weight loss. Thanks for posting everyone.

Vija= I hope your flight to Orlando goes well. I'll keep my fingers crossed that you don't need it. Have fun!
