Good morning Red Team! Here we are starting week 9. By completing week 8 we are now more that half way through our challenge. Are you where you want to be? What are you doing to get the most out of this experience?

Today is weigh in day. Please PM or email your weight to me by midnight tonight. I'm sorry if I sometimes get impatient with you on weigh in day. I just like to get all my numbers and make sure everything is in order. I am a numbers freak. I am also concerned about all our team members and an concerned when I don't hear from them. I have several team members MIA that I have not heard from for several weeks. All I can do is PM and let them know I miss them.

Red Team question of the day

Do you have a pumpkin or jack-o-lantern?

Me first. Nope, none here. When the kids were small we did the JOL thing several times, what a slimy mess. Since they've grown I have placed just a pumpkin on the steps several times but sometimes they wind up smashed in the street. This year I just wasn't feeling too festive. I was supposed to be gone for Halloween but that trip was canceled so I will now be home with DH doling out the goodies.

Get those weights in Red Team.

Have a healthy day!

We have a painted pumpkin. It is a tiny pumpkin because the one Bridget picked out got eaten by squirrels. Poor thing is so upset, she pulls out a picture from the pumpkin patch and says "Daddy, I want another big pumpkin again." She knew the little pumpkin was supposed to be Gabbie's. Happy weigh in day guys! I lost 5 pounds this week. I am sure some of it was water weight lost from giving up Diet Coke and then also my weight loss catching up to me from last week.

Robin

bridgetgabbie(Robin), Congratulations on a great loss. Keep up the good work. The squirrels ate the pumpkin. Never heard that one. Poor Bridget.

agnes!, check out my siggie. THANKYOU! THANKYOU! I could not have done it without you.

Good morning. I maintained this week, and I really thought I was going to be up.

Yes, we have 3 jack-o-lanterns. the kids each designed one, which DH cut out for them ... they look awesome! And then I have a fake one that you put batteries in for the light inside. Looks pretty real and I like to have a backup in case we forget to do the real ones. :rotfl: DH put out all of the Hallowe'en decorations on Sunday and they look great! I'm not very creative, and not really "into" the whole thing, but it is fun to give out the candy and see all the cute kids.

have a good day, everyone. :goodvibes

We have five pumpkins that we spent almost all Sunday carving. We did the Disney ones again. My kids love carving but they take so long to do. My back still hurts from leaning over carving them. They are very cute. Have a great day everyone.

Robin congratulations on the huge loss. Keep it up.:cool1: :cool1:

Good morning Red Team! I maintained this week, which I am O.K. with. I have been lifting weights a lot this last week and increased the pounds, so I wasn't expecting a big loss. I did lose some inches, though!

We do have a pumpkin, but I doubt I'll get around to carving it! We don't get many trick or treaters on my street either, so we don't even buy candy! It's great to not have the temptation around!

bridgettegabbie - I thought we had squirrels that were a little agressive, but I couldn't imagine them coming up on the porch to eat our pumpkins! Your poor DD!! I wish I could send her one of ours (of course your squirrels might just think I was sending them dessert again  )

Robin - WOW:woohoo: 5 lbs is GREAT! That's better than the results some of the folks on the show are getting and they have no distractions and hours of personal trainer time to help them!

mary liz and dizchick - Hey, no gain is great, especially if you're weight training and losing inches! They have these 2 pieces at my gym that show 5 lbs of muscle and 5 lbs of fat. The muscle piece is smooth and about a third the size of the fat. The fat is lumpy and takes up a LOT more space. While the weight is the same, the muscle is WAY more compact. Losing inches is what makes us look better and our clothes more comfortable, not what the scale says.

Very slight loss this week for me, but it's TOM so I'm hoping next week will be better. DH and I started the South Beach Diet Phase 1 on Sunday so I have hopes of a really good loss this week. We're also giving up caffeine and it is SO hard for me. I'm down to 1.5 diet cokes per day now (I don't even want to admit how much I used to drink). I couldn't go cold-turkey like DH did because the headaches were killing me. I guess that's a sure sign of addiction! By next week I hope to be off it completely. We'll be a milk/water/lemonade house.

I am waiting until the last minute to buy halloween candy for the trick or treaters so I won't have that temptation around. I think I'll get something that isn't really a fave of mine, like Smarties or Skittles. Those are good, but they're not a temptation for me. Miniature Snickers might be a problem!:rolleyes1

We have 5 real pumpkins and one plastic light up JOL that plugs in. 2 of the pumpkins are from my uncle who grew them in his garden this year, the kids got to paint those at my grandmother's house last weekend. 2 of them were from a party that one of DH's co-workers throws for all the kids each year, and then DD brought one home from a class field trip to a farm. I got the plug in one at Big Lots - they had the cutest decorations this year!

D2D - you asked about the spelling of DD's name - Alix is short for Alexandra. I actually got the spelling from a history book my grandmother brought home from a trip to England. Queen Victoria's real name (what her family called her as a child) was Alexandra and she signed personal notes "Alix". The last Czarina of Russia (who was a granddaughter of QV) was also Alexandra, known as Alix of Hesse before her marriage. Theoretically, I thought shortening her name with that spelling would help to indicate that she was a girl, as opposed to Alex.

Hi everyone. I've been MIA since last weeks weigh in. It's been a very tough week for me. I quit my job of 16 1/2 years and start a new job on Monday. I am hoping and praying that I made the right decision. I feel like I was pretty much forced to quit from my old job and I loved working there, BUT when you keep posting for jobs and a manager tells you that she doesn't think you would be able to do those jobs and "you look bored and like you don't want to be here" then I feel like all my time there was wasted. No, I agree I didn't want to be doing what I did, that is why I posted for other jobs. Regardless I came in and gave 100 % everyday. So when I told her that if I couldn't or wasn't allowed to leave the department, I would have to start looking elsewhere for a job I was then told "OK"

So that is what I did. It's been an emotional last few days. I am saying goodbye to a lot of people that I enjoyed working with. I will miss them. I am now off for 4 days and go back on Saturday for my last day. It is going to be very sad :sad1: for me.

That said this has taken a toll on me in the diet department. No loss, no gain this week, but that is all good because I was up a little and got it back down.

Now for the QOTD

No pumpkins here. I have the same problem of squirrels eating them. My neighbor was flipping out cause something was nibbling her pumpkins, I told her it was squirrels but she thought it was a rat, so she called the village and the county and they came and examined both our yards...no rats, it is squirrels. Same thing DH and I told her.

Robin

Congrats on the weight loss. I am hoping that after 2 weeks of nothing that next week will be my good one!

hi everyone! i just thought i'd let you all know that i just got back from the gym and i did an hour on the elliptical just to get 150 min of exercise in this week for the challenge! usually i stop at 30 min, but i felt good and kept going.

my gym is super depressing though, the only people who workout there in the afternoon and nighttime are super skinny college girls who look like their waists are going to bust in half if they work out. the men are super buff too. i think i'm the only person there with love handles (i can never get rid of them either!! :lmao: i've tried everything!).

I used to go to the Ballys by me and it was always all these gorgeous girls and nice looking guys. I was always wondering where the "real" people were that needed to work out. I stopped going after a bit because I always felt out of place. Curves was a much better fit for me.

Just checking in. Been busy with family wedding over the weekend, the Red Sox playing and Halloween this week.

I maintained this week, which is good because those scallops wrapped in bacon were yummy!

No pumpkins here.

As for being where I want to be....no but I am happy that I have lost some. :goodvibes

We got a pumpkin, but it is being left whole, no holes.

agnes!
PS - Sheesh, I wish I could have submitted this morning's weight. I am down .5 pound from yesterday. CONGRATS to all the LOSERs ;) !

Sorry to be so late, very rushed and harried week at work. I am sending my pm with weight etc now. Sorry to be so late. Not great on the challenge due to limitations of surgery still but some points. I also lost!:goodvibes My two youngest carved pumpkins and kind of made a mess lol. I have my santa outside, my husband covered it with a sheet to decorate for Halloween :rotfl: !

I did not do this weeks challenge, I'm sorry. I've been pretty sick and just couldn't do it.

I started feeling better last night so we went out and got a pumpkin then made a Jack-o-lantern. It came out pretty good!
