We checked into the SS on Friday on a Priceline rate of $39.00. All was well until Saturday evening when we returned to our room from the parks. Several things were missing from our room...but they were all "little" things. It was very weird. The list of things missing were:

My son's Yu Gi Oh toothbrush
My contact lens case
Several of the pieces that went with my son's new lego toy
My friend's toothbrush case

Now. Before you think that these are things that could have accidentally been thrown away in cleaning, let me say the only things by the sink were these items, there was no mess to really clean there. My friend's toothbrush case was taken OFF of the toothbrush, the toothbrush left there. My son's toothbrush was taken out of the plastic bag it had been in (as were the other two that were in plastic bags, but they were left). My contact lens case was sitting next to my contact cleaner and it was just gone. The pieces of the toy were taken out of the little box it had been in. For anyone who has ever been to the lego store, you might know its the little thing they have where you can build three lego people and put them in a little case you wear around your neck.

We looked through our belongings and nothing else was missing, including my friend's nintendo dual screen that had been in the suitcase.

To Sheraton Safari's credit, when I called to report this "odd" theft they gave us a $30.00 credit to our room and offered to send up security to write a report, which I declined since nothing of real value was missing and certainly the $30.00 was more than the sum of the items missing, it was also late and I was tired. But it was all just REALLY strange. They also sent up a new toothbrush and a contact case for me.

Anyway...if your toothbrush goes missing on your next visit to the SS, don't say you weren't warned.

I would have asked for new toothbrushes for everyone. No knowing what they did to the ones they left behind that they took out of the bags :earseek: . :rolleyes1

Wow..that is strange... wonder why someone would do something like that :confused3 I guess there are some strange people out there. I think I would have been frightened :scared: that someone was able to get into my room. Did you ask them to change the key code?... I can't see the maids doing it.. but you never know. Hey, I know what.. next time you go (or anyone for that matter) bring 2 sets of toothbrushes, a good set that you keep in a zip lock baggie in the draw & an old set that you have used to clean the house with (or in my case the turtle) and leave that one by the sink. :rotfl: Then the laughs would be on them... Seriously, that really is strange. Other than that, was the room ok? It was very nice of SS to give you the room credit. How did that work being that you were PL?

We used it for a breakfast from room service we wouldn't have gotten otherwise. I don't know if they would have given us the money when we checked out or not. It was just really WEIRD!

Since we only stayed the two nights, and discovered this on our second night after returning back to the room, we did not ask for a code change or anything, we were in the room for the evening at that point.

Eww, how strange. Maybe the maid dropped them & threw them out or something?

So what you need to do is write a letter to management. I know that is my solution to everything but in fact it is the best solution. The 30.00 credit is not a big deal when you think that someone was in your room doing things with your stuff! I do not let the maids in when I go away any more. I would prefer to fix my bed and do my own laundry to be sure it is clean. I watched a 20/20 once the way some of the maids "clean" leaves a lot to be desired.

I'm with you, I always put the "Do Not Disturb" sign out, because I don't want anybody in the room either. Of course, I know that doesn't always stop them.

$39 for the Sheraton Safari, that's great! I only got a $59 rate using priceline. My offer was rejected one time earlier when I put in $49. I'm going to be there for one night 12/3. to start our Disney trip, then it's on to Orange lake, I got 7 nights in a 2 bedroom villa for $500. My family can't wait. :goodvibes

Mabey one of the maids had a little kid with them?? You know how kids will grab anything...doesn't seem like something that would be worth stealing.
At our office we once had issues...things disappearing..strange things..food missing..then bites out of food..then scribbles on the paper...yep..kids...

We stayed there via priceline in March of 2004. We got it for either $37 or $38 a night, I can't remember which. That was the common rate for quite awhile. I did notice it's a good $15-20 more now on priceline a night.

That's a good idea about the DND sign! I don't really care if the bed is made up anyway.
