Bitty Baby Question

DD got Bitty Baby when she was about 5 years old and has not parted with her or any of her accessories. She also had several AG dolls and their various accessories, all of which we sold on Ebay for a Disney trip:thumbsup2 but no way will she part with her BB. Ssshhhh, she is 13 and I sometimes catch her looking through the diaper bag at all the different outfits;) I gave her the plaid Lands End baby bag I got at my baby shower for her 13 years ago and this is what holds all the BB stuff I bought over the years.

Biity Baby arrived at our house for Christmas when D was about 2 or so...she loves that baby. Now that D is 16, Baby and the other AG dolls are in a cradle in my office, but that baby was her favorite toy for years and years. One of the best presents we ever got D.

I was not into dolls whatsoever as a child for the most part, the only doll I ever showed interest in was American Girl dolls. They're not just toys, but they're also collector's items. They hold their value very well on the secondary market. There is just something more special about an American Girl doll than just an old doll off a shelf at the store. If it helps, Bitty Babies can also wear the Bitty Twin clothes.

I'd get her the doll. :)

I'm not familiar with these dolls (DGD is 12 now), but is it extremely expensive? Is there some other item she really wants within the same price range that you would get instead?

If it's not terribly expensive - and there's not something else she would be happy with as a substitute - I would buy it for her.. Little girls are little girls for such a short time.. :lovestruc I don't believe in rushing them through their childhoods based solely on age..

Good luck with whatever you decide..:goodvibes

I absolutely agree with this:thumbsup2:goodvibes Why push them to grow up faster by denying them things they MAY outgrow in a year or two or three if it is something you can afford and they want now?

Anyway, DD is 13. She got her bitty for her first birthday and still plays with her once in a while. Her AG dolls (including Bitty who is the most special) are always set up in little displays in her room and she resets them (changing hair and clothes too) at least seasonally--which is a form of play as well I guess.

My daughter had all of the AG dolls and Bitty Baby was her favorite and the one she played with most.
OP, even if she never plays with the doll, it's what she wants for Christmas, so I'd get it for her.

DD 4 1/2 has Mia (Doll of the year 2008) which she got for her 2nd birthday.
this year she is eyeing the bitty twins.

I think 5 years old is good for both bitty babies and twins.
