so I am right in thinking the best thing to do for our next trip is to wait till Disney release there prices (rather than go with TCS) and than book room only, book flights separately than buy 1 day hopper passes that we upgrade on our first day to APs?

I think I've got that right? you don't need to buy APs before you go?

I am fairly sure if you are going to stay onsite that you will need to have an AP mumber before you book. If you are going to sty in one of the associated hotels you can book on their website and them buy your AP when you get there

ok.. we are booking castle club at the DLH..

How lovely. We will want to hear all about it when you come home.

I dont think you get discount on castle club but still the Ap's would give you the discounts.

I did not think that we would get the discount on CC, however we could use it on another trip. :)

Can't comment on getting a discount when staying at CC. When I booked our August trip I stated to our travel agent that we would buy annual passes, so she booked us room only (through Disney UK), but when I asked, was told that we wouldn't be eligible for AP discounts on this first trip - presumably because we don't really have AP's until collected from the AP office in DLP.

I did post about not receiving the hotel discount first time but Cyrano reckoned we should be able to get it. Didn't pursue it any fruther unfortunately.

We haven't bought 1 day passes for the trip because I understand you get a ticket for entry into the park in order to obtain your offical AP, however I also think you can buy the 1 day pass and upgrade.

That's right, it's not necessary to buy the 1 day pass in order to get into the park. We just told the CM at the ticketbooth that we would like to buy Dream passes and he sold us temporary ones that got us into the park which we then exchanged for our permanent ones at the passport bureau.

I was also under the impression that you needed to have your annual pass number before you could get the discounts on Disney hotel rooms but as I have only stayed offsite I cannot speak from experience.
