Bistro de Paris

I dined there while honeymooning this past december...

I was really looking forward to it, but was sourly dissapointed.

We had a snooty waiter, that basically turned his nose up at us because we did not care to try escargot

Other than that, we found the food to be somewhat unoriginal. :confused3

Our favorites are still Citrico's & Blue Zoo.

On the other hand, you will see great reviews all over the place for it....just wasn't our cup of tea I guess!

We've had several meals here; I like it better than my husband does but he's fine with it (he's not a huge fan of French cuisine).

I have enjoyed dining here because it's a more adult atmosphere and it's provided a nice escape from the noisy family dining venues all over WDW. The chocolate souffle dessert is outstanding. They have a nice wine selection and the service has always been very good.

RUN!!!!!

I love gourmet food, I am an adventurous eater and was really looking forward to this. The food was beautiful to look at, the atmosphere was romantic but the food was bland, bland, blandy McBland bland. Having to pay over $85 a person for boring, bland food is not my idea of a good time.

Blue Zoo is wonderful and I highly recommend it. Bistro is just a huge pile of fail.

My DW and I ate there last November. I think that a seat by the window, after dusk, looking out over the street and all the lights is a very romantic setting for dinner. I thought that the food was okay, but it was probably my least favorite of all of the signature restaurants when it came to the food (and I have eaten at all of the signature places but Artist's Point). It would say it just comes down to not liking the cuisine, but I have eaten meals at other French restaurants and enjoyed them more.

Ocean-
Best advice is to go try it! :thumbsup2
You may like it , you may not, at least you can say you tried!

Example: A few years back, I had only heard a few reviews of Citricos....All were leaning towards the negative side, so I stayed away.

Well, in 2009, we finally tried it, and it has become our FAVORITE restaurant.
And it seems to get consistently positive reviews as of late popcorn::

We really enjoyed our experience at Bistro. We got a window seat and could see Illuminations from our table.

My entree (lamb) was outstanding. I was just meh on my appetizer and dessert but I think I just didn't love what I ordered. We didn't know about the souffle until the end of the meal (after 10 p.m.) and didn't want to wait another 20 minutes. Next time I'll pre-order that because I really want to try it.

Odd, when I posted my restaurant itinerary, everyone seemed to love it, lol

Note: Bistro is upstairs in France. It is a
very typical French eatery - cultured, polite,
sedate, slow. Although no children menu, they
allow kid's pasta dishes. An excellent choice
for fine dining.
As a side note, avoid the
snails, as WDW has changed to Indonesian snails.

Our favorites:
Appetizer - Cow and Goat Cheese Assortment
Main Courses - Lobster Risotto, and the Venison
Dessert - Grand-Marnier Soufflé

Love it there!

It is so nice and quiet. Of all the signatures, it is the most sedate. It isn't on the dining plan.

Although there were children there, including ours, all were quiet and I remember loving the souffle.

Thanks everyone! I am always happy to try new restaurants and honestly, I really haven't found a Disney restaurant I didn't like.

My group will be all adults so no worries for us about kid menus. I think the Bistro looks beautiful and makes for a great dinner. I will keep it on my list and see what we think.

Any thoughts on Coral Reef? That's another one I want to try and haven't made it to yet. Maybe on the Thanksgiving trip!

Dh and I dined at Bistro a few months ago. Very disappointed. Atmosphere was worse than Chef Mickey's -- total chaos with noise and kids everywhere. And, we went late -- 8:30 p.m.

The food was very expensive. Dh's scallops were fishy-smelling and too old to be served. My filet came smothered in brown gravy to hide its less-than-great quality.

With a bottle of wine, we were in this dinner over $350 for two. We should have just done another night at V&A.

We won't go back.

Coral Reef is also a zoo. I would not go there for dinner since everybody on the dining plan goes there for dinner. Lunch is a somewhat better bet. Food quality is not very good anymore. We used to love it.

NOTE: The Coral Reef is an interesting respite
from normal dining, as the wall is a huge aquarium.
One can see the fish and the divers tending to the
fish and tank. The food, unfortunately has gone to
the "average" zone. For some of the better dishes,
try the Mussels for a appy and the trout for the
entrée. Other selections are run-of-the-mill.

This is definitely the general consensus regarding Coral Reef, but I've always liked it. The mahi mahi entree is quite tasty, as is the lobster soup appetizer. I'm disappointed the catfish is no longer on the menu. Its removal, in addition to several other dishes, has definitely led to the restaurant's overall decline in recent years.

Interestingly, I don't like the one item here everyone else seems to enjoy: the much-hyped Chocolate Wave. I didn't understand all the praise. To me, it was at best an average chocolate lava cake dessert. I'll take the Kilauea torte at Kona Cafe instead.

We have dinner reservations at Bistro next week. After reading the posts, I kinda wonder if it's worth a try. I did see references about Blue Zoo. Please tell me more about it. I've never heard of it before. :confused3

I went in Feb and it was wonderful we had a table by the window was able to watch illuminations, we settled in for a non hurried dinner and everything was delicious (I love french food). I would only have 1 exception to this my friend had the pork and although he enjoyed it I thought it was a little dry... the wine our server helped us pick out was wonderful, dessert was yummy and as we waddled out of the park (after closing that was nice as well) we both remarked how nice dinner was, the tables are not jammed together like other rest. everyone was super nice, our asst server even came over and remarked on my perfume and how nice it was. I will definitly return and look fwd to it!

I am really sad to say this, but after my experience there tonight, I would recommend you run as far away from Bistro as your legs can take you! We waited 94 minutes after receiving our appetizers before finally giving up and leaving. I was particularly disappointed, as my parents were celebrating their 35th anniversary, and my aunt was celebrating her 65th birthday - we really just wanted a nice dinner to celebrate.

Unfortunately, all we got from Bistro was one set of breadsticks to gnaw on, and one glass of tea each (never got refills, or even a glance towards our empty glasses). Table next door seated after us, had 6 (we were 4), and ate amuse, entree, desserts, and settled the bill during the time we sat there. Had a hard time even tracking down our waiter (or a manager!) to settle the bill for the drinks! The menu sounded good (nothing earth-shattering,but good food was sure to follow), the atmosphere was great (aside from the 8 minute elevator ride up :lmao:), but I never got to try the food! Hope you have better luck than us :confused3
