I had booked a reservation for Bistro de Paris for Dec 4. Today, I got an email from the restaurant saying that they will be closed for renovations from 8/1 to the end of November. They say that they will dropping our reservations and switching it to Chefs de France. I am not happy with that. Has this happened to anybody? Why would they drop my reservation considering it's in December and not in November?

They may be worried about actually opening on time. If they didn't and they allowed you to keep reservations in the start of December, then they would be rushing to change your reservation much closer to the time of it.

But yes, they have been doing this with a lot of reservations. The original time line was even shorter then it is now so quite a few people were able to make reservations before the dates changed.

Looks like the refurb is taking longer and longer. At one time it was supposed to be finished sometime in September, but then all of us with October reservations got the same email as you, then it was people in November and now it looks like even beginning of December. While I was disappointed, I am glad they gave me a lot of time to find an alternate since I already had Les Chefs scheduled on a different day. I'm looking forward to Bistro next year.

I know they are also planning to expand the Patisserie so perhaps the plans have gotten more extensive. :confused3

It's a major refurb involving both Bistro and the Patisserie and I'm not really surprised to see the time for it expanding.

Thanks, everybody! I rescheduled to December 9 and keeping my fingers crossed. :thanks:

Is it expected to have the same/similar menu when it re-opens? We just booked an ADR there for mid-December. I had no idea it was under renovation... until now.

It's been announced by the Disney Parks Blog that when Bistro reopens it will not have the same menu or the same atmosphere, and they are even going to change the name.

The Patisserie will not close for renovation; they're constructing an entirely new building for it, and it will be moved when the construction is completed.

Will the new Bistro De Paris still be a signature dining restaurant? I'm wondering if we should have a back up plan... we currently have a dinner ADR here for Dec. 15th, but we based that on the menu that's posted on allears. I read yesterday that they canceled someone's ADR for Dec 4th due to reno taking longer than expected...
