Trying to decide between these two, would welcome any opinions/recommendations please. :goodvibes

Thanks

I am not sure my opinion will help since I have not eaten at Bistro de Paris. But I would LOVE to do a chefs tasting at Flying Fish. Ca Grill and FF are consistently my best meals ever:) Last April it was just DH and I and we sat at the bar area near the chefs and it was great talking to the waiter about what we were eating, what wines to pair... and I had a dish with gnocchi that was TDF. Excellent service and food!

I think I'm edging towards FF :)

I have done both.
Bistro De Paris on our honeymoon this past december, and the FF chef's tasting dinner two weeks ago for my birthday :lovestruc

FF without a doubt!!!

IT was AMAZINGLY good!
Enjoyed every moment of it, it is a very up close and personal experience.

We reall did not care for Bistro De Paris, and cannot understand the hype :confused3

I am in the process of writing my FF review, and should have it up shortly!!

I have only recently learned that there is a Chef's Tasting at Flying Fish and it's something I definitely want to do! Can anyone who has done it share the pricing information? Thanks!

The price with pairings is $135 + tax etc = $142.44.
I'm not sure what the food-only price is now, but it used to be $85, which would be around $90 total.

You prepay the full price at booking time, and if you decide to do without pairings, let them know at check-in and they will refund the difference.

With prepay, it's nice to be able to just stand up and leave when you're done (assuming you haven't ordered extra cocktails).

And as for OP's question, definitely FF Chef's over Bistro...

I must have been the exception to the rule for the Chef's Tasting at Flying Fish. It was by far the worst experience for me last October, but it could be that I was feeling slightly under the weather.

Or it could be that the coconut sorbet palate cleanser had some creme de menthe in the glass, giving it that Crest toothpaste taste. The sous chef, when I confessed what I thought of the dish, tried it. He was apologetic.

Bistro de Paris is good, but I think on any given day, the Chef's Tasting Menu would probably be a lot better. I'm willing to give it another chance someday.

I haven't done the Tasting at FF, but just based off eating from the regular menu at both places, I would vote for FF by a mile. Bistro was good, but FF was great.

We were also not too impressed with Bistro. We love FF and have the Chef's Wine Tasting Dinner booked for October. Out of all the new experiences we are trying next trip (first F&W, first MNSSHP, first time staying CL) this dinner is the one that I am psyched about the most (marshwiggle's pictures from 3 or 4 dinners there have not helped at all :lmao:).

I don't know when it starts, but the prices for this has increased. For our October dinner, after tax and gratuity, the cost came to $157 and change per person. :thumbsup2

Playing with the adr page, it looks like the price increase starts in October up to $157.22; I wonder if it's a temporary bump for F&W or if it's the price going forward (that's giving up 4 extra Mickey bars). Also the available dates in Oct are fewer, and none in November - maybe for F&W?

I have yet to do a Bistro meal - maybe next trip. But we love the Chef's table at the FF. We really enjoy the chef interaction sitting at the counter.

For the first one I did - I posted a review. It's here. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2506696

We also have one scheduled for this Wed - the first night of our trip. I will see if I can take some pics and do another review of the meal this time.

There are dates available after October 16th. Our reservation is for October 24th. The online system hasn't been updated for a while for some of the pre-paid meals or dinner shows (I know that HDDR, SoA, and Dingig With An Imagineer all no longer are able to be booked online after that date). Maybe they are going to start to force people to call to make these reservations. I got worried when I saw the dates stopped at Oct. 16th so I called to ask if it was still going to be available.

Are you planning for another visit already marsh? :lmao::worship::thumbsup2

Thanks everyone, FF is now booked :)

Lori - I hope I don't have something like what you had, that sounds vile

Apparently the dates aren't loaded on the main website yet, but they can be booked for November :) BC IPO booked mine for the 15th November :thumbsup2

Does anyone know if they accept TIW at FF Chefs Tasting?

No, the chef's table is booked and paid for in advance. So no discount. However, they do take TiW for normal seatings - as long as it's not a blackout date.

I attended the Chef's table while on vacation just before Memorial Day. Hope to have review up soon.

Thanks for all the responses - I loved the pictures from your first review Forever -

dumb question - I looked into Victoria and Alberts (and promptly fainted at the price!) V&A isnt pre paid (so their price does not include tax and tip)

- and FF is (pre pay) - does the pre pay price include taxes and tips? TIA

Went to disneyworld.go.com and saw the latest menu - mouth watering!!

I think FF is great, but would NEVER spend that much there for dinner. Go to V&A's, and get your 20% TIW discount and get a much better meal/experience for a little more money.
