Which is preferable for a good dinner - the downstairs Bistro de Paris or the upstairs Chefs de France? They look so similar, the downstairs menu looks a little more expansive. Is the ambience different?

Chefs is downstairs and Bistro is upstairs.

Ambience is completely different. Bistro de Paris is a quiet, elegant atmosphere "fine dining" experience. Chefs de France is a busy, brasserie atmosphere with a more workmanlike menu. I have been to both and prefer Chefs.

Ditto. I found the prices and environment at Chefs to be more to my liking. I lived in France for awhile and it is very authentic in both food and atmosphere to just about any cafe you would find in Paris.

Bistro's service was a bit stuffy and the prices were exhorbitant.

I have only been to Chefs for lunch, but the food was descent the atmosphere quaint. I had the degustation meal at Bistro (6 courses) and it was subpar. Kids were running around and it was far from romantic. We ended up missing illuminations. For price alone I would go to Chefs. Even with my DDE discount, our meal was over $200 before tax and tip.

Very interesting thread. I am glad that we booked Chefs in October. Would the lobster at Bistro have been included in the DDP?

We've been to both a couple of times for dinner and prefer Bistro. I like the quiet and intimate atmosphere. We've never had a bad meal at either. I think the service at Bistro is better. Bistro is more expensive.

I much prefer Bistro. It isn't cheap, but my experiences have always been great. It has always been quiet and relaxing and the food outstanding.

I haven't been to Chefs in years, but I tried out Bistro last year. It was really good, but very expensive. If money was no object, I'd probably go to Bistro--if money is an object, be sure to ask how much the water is, as I recall it was about $6 for the bottle they gave me.

What I had:

Salad with smoked salmon and crab claws

Creme brulee, mango sorbet, and a chocolate cookie.

Depends on what you like.

Are you more adventure oriented, or like safe french infused food.

I'm not really one for scallops or frog legs or snails or truly rich foods from the bistro, but I can say that the onion soup, steak, and creme brulee I got at Chefs was my favorite meal of the last trip.

Fantastic!

Le Bistro is excellent..if you have an adult only party and are looking for a fine dining experience, choose Le Bistro. It is one of the best kept secrets as far as disney restaurants go, well, not such a secret, it books up very quickly, lol. Le Bistro, is very small, quiet, intimate restaurant. The service is the sit back and relax between courses type of service. Plan on spending a good 2 1/2 to 3 hours for the meal.

Chefs is also quite good, just different. Much quicker pace, family oriented, you probably only need about an 1 1/2 hours for you meal, depending on how many courses you order.
