My family and I are going on our first DC November 2015 on the Wonder. We will be cruising on my DD's 8th birthday. Do they do anything special for birthdays onboard? Do I need to let customer services know when we first board or do you note that in your reservation? Thanks.

My TA put my son's b-day in the special request section. He got a birthday button that day. Also a special (sort of) slice of cake at dinner.

Have it noted on your reservation, tell the head server in the MDRs and you will get a round of happy birthday from some servers and a cake. GS can get you a birthday badge.

On the Dream and Wonder, DD received a button and slice of cake at dinner (with the waiters singing). Also on the Dream, the stateroom host noticed her birthday magnet on the door (we were B2B'ers so he had more time to get to know us) so on the last night he left her a towel birthday cake :thumbsup2

On the Fantasy, not only did DS get his button and cake, the head server had him stand up on the chair and placed his pirate hat (it was pirate night) on DS's head while everyone around us was singing.
At BBB, when DS was getting his pirate makeover, the CM had everyone stop working when she found out it was his actual birthday that day and the whole room sang "A Happy Pirate Birthday to you" to him. He loved that :goodvibes

We were on the Fantasy in March 2014 for my sons 13th birthday. He received a birthday button (which he didn't wear) and the waiters brought him a slice of cake and sang to him at dinner. The waiters all shock his hand and congratulated him on being a teenager. It was sweet and age-appropriate. I took decorations with us that I decorated the room with on his birthday. It was fun!

my daughter's 6th birthday was a week after we sailed, but we wanted to 'celebrate' it on board with grandma and grandpa and her aunt, uncle, and cousin who all live across the country and never see her on her actual birthday. We told our servers the first night and they asked what night we wanted to celebrate- we chose the last night and on that night, the servers came and sang happy birthday, gave her the special cake and the birthday pin. She felt pretty special.

We used the family announcement for added specialness. Instead of having them announce the XYZ family on embarkation day, we would use "the birthday girl/boy/etc". One time one of the staff then took us right over to GS to get a birthday button. Not a bad way to kick things off.

Oh that's a great idea! We are leaving on Wednesday and it will be my son's birthday during the cruise. He'll love that, thanks for the suggestion :)
