My birthday is Sept.14 and the first NSSHP is Sept.15 so I figured this might be the perfect time to go.

I heard that birthdays are special at WDW, I'm turning 23. What are your experiences?

You can go to the Town Hall in MK and get a today's my Birthday pin. All day long CMs wish you a happy birthday. Also heard of CMs giving out fastpasses to those wearing the button. We did this for my sister's birthday a few years ago and although she received lots of happy birthdays, that's about it.

We went in Oct of 2005. I turned 31. Let me tell you that it's great. I got a pen from MK, Epcot, MGM, and AK. You get a lot of attention. By my actual bday, I was wearing all the pens. You can get one at DTD, but it was the same pen that was at MK I believe, or the MK and MGM are the same. One of the best experiences was at Epcot. I was getting fish and chips and this cm asked me my name and if I was giong to be staying all day. I said yes. He said come back when it was time for Illuminations and he will get me a special view. When it was time, me and DW went and it was an area that was roped off and it was the best view. Oh if you go to Chef Mikey's, you may get a place mat that has all the characters that signed it. :thumbsup2

my bday is the 15th and I'll be in Disney this year for my first birthday trip..very excited!!

When you go to Town Hall and get the birthday button they will give you a special phone call from Mickey. They did this for my daughter, she turned 8 while we were there. I'm assuming they would do this for anyone. Also, we all got free ice cream - I think they give you coupons. You will also be wished "happy birthday" from all the CM's. It's fun.

Also, be sure to tell the hotel when you check in. My daughter had balloons and a special card from all the characters. It was personally signed. We stayed on-site!

Have fun and Happy birthday!

We were on the boat from MGM to BC on my birthday and the captain asked if there were any birthdays. My daughter raised my hand! So, a 4 year old, a 9 year old .. and me (40+) all stood at the front of the boat and everyone sang happy bithday!

I got a button and the captain told me to wear it till I went home. We got free desserts in several restaurants, cards signed by the characters, and fast passes at Test Track!

Sometimes, I would forget I had the button on and people would just walk past me and say "happy birthday"! It was alot of fun!

I celebrated my 29th birthday at WDW. We were at MK on my actual birthday and it was great fun being wished a happy birthday by so many people. The best, and most embarassing, experience was at Pecos Bill's though. Dh and dd went to find a seat while I got our lunch. The CM preparing our tray started chatting with me. It went like this:

CM: Happy Birthday!
me: Thanks!
CM: Are you having a good day?
me: Absolutely
CM: What's your name?
me: Erin
CM: Is today a special birthday, Erin?
me: (clueless) No, just my 29th.
CM: You'll have to come back next year for the big one!

She turns and walks away and returns with chocolate cake that she places on my tray. I hadn't ordered it, I just figured it was Disney magic. Then, IT happened. Cm jumps on the corner and screams for everyone's attention. It was noon and the lines were l-o-n-g.

CM: Hello in the restaurant! Can everyone hear me?
Everyone: Yes (and now looking at CM)
CM: Today is Erin's -(points to me) This is Erin - 29th birthday. Next year is the BIG 3-0 for Erin here!!! Let's sing happy birthday to celebrate the last year of her 20's.

I WANTED TO DIE!!!!

The entire restaurant broke out in song. My dh and dd could hear what was going on. The Cm hopped down from the counter and said, "happy birthday". I was left to walk away with my tray and the knowledge that this was, indeed, the last year of my 20's....

We celebrated dd's 3rd birthday at WDW as well. She was treated to special desserts, certificates, character interactions, etc etc etc. It was great. WDW is the best place to be for your birthday!

My dad celebrated his 55th birthday at WDW and he still contests that it was his best birthday ever. We took him to the CP for breakfast and they had the table decorated, a birthday cupcake, and a card from the characters. At Star Tours the whole ride sang happy birthday to him and he got a card. At Test Track the CM gave him his opening day brochure (for TT) as a present. The whole day was really great and he was just thrilled by all of the CM and guests who wished him a happy birthday even though he was an "old guy." :)

We celebrated my niece's 29th bday in Oct. She picked up the pins in each park each day and received a bunch of happy bdays all day long from CMs, characters, and other guests. She had the same experience at Pecos Bill's and I thought she was going to crawl under the counter. My sister and I were crackin' up the whole time. She got a couple of cards signed by characters, balloons in her room at the resort, tables decorated at dinner and free desserts. It was great!

We will be going in March since it is our spring break. January I will be turning 50. :sad2: any way, I opted to go to Disney World and skip a big party. Can't afford both and besides I like my friends in Florida more than the ones here at home. :rotfl2:

Is that too much time after to be acknowledged? Or am I going to look like a big baby asking for one when my birthday is clearly all over with? :confused3

Like others have said make sure you tell your resort about your birthday- my DD recieved a autograph picture of Mickey and balloons and also a phone call from Goofy. Wearing the birthday pins sounds like a small thing but it really makes it fun. My DD even got a "Happy Birthday" from a pirate in the Share a Dream Come True Parade! Also, tell the restaurant(s) you're eating at about your birthday, sometimes they brought cards, cupcakes, balloons or sang to you if you let them know. Disney really makes birthdays magical! princess:

This trip is for my 30th birthday gift. (It's our second trip this year, so I had to give DH an "excuse" for booking it! HA!) However, my actual birthday is two and a half weeks before our trip. I wonder if I would be abusing the system if I got a button anyway? :smooth:

We leave WDW 5 days before the 8th birthday of a fellow traveler. I asked what week worked for them and mom said she didn't mind if they would be gone for his bday but it didn't sound like the preference, so we went with the week earlier to incorporate Gasperilla Pirate Fest pirate: (the early festivities-pre-drunkenness) in Tampa as well. I don't want to teach my kids to lie for their own benefit but we could have our own "celebration" of his bday since we live in different states, but how do CM's treat it initially? Do they ask if it's TODAY? It sounds like Crow11ad celebrated his all week at every park. :woohoo:
If they go in on our last park day and say "We're celebrating ds's 8th bday today" and he or his brother say '"well, it's not really until next week" will it matter? I won't bring it up if it would be inappropriate. This family has never been to WDW so they'll be thrilled no matter what. I've never celebrated anyone's bday so wouldn't know what to expect.
