My twin boys are turning ten in a few weeks, and we've planned to be at MK that day (we're staying at BLT for two nights). Do they still do birthday buttons or things like that at MK? Anyone have experience at setting up small things in the room? Or any other ideas? Thanks!

Yes, they certainly do. Have the kids wear them the entire trip - when we're there for a birthday, we celebrate the whole week! :) At the very least, many CMs will wish them a happy birthday, and they might get a treat here or there.

I've never set up anything in our room, but lots of people buy things ahead of time to take along and ward off the wanting to buy trinkets every day.

Happy Birthday to your boys!

Birthday buttons - if you have any table service ADRs list the birthdays on reservations and usually there is a dessert delivered. We haven't done delivery to the room for special things, I have taken dollar store things with me and decorated overnight before.

Are the buttons available at all the parks or just MK? It'll be my mom's first trip in probably over 12 years so I want to get her a "1st Visit" button but didn't know if I had to wait til our MK day or if I could snag one at Epcot.

As far as I know, you can get them at all of the parks. We recently got a birthday button from the concierge at Riverside so you can try your resort as well.

Al the parks, resorts and Disney Springs guest relations

Thank you! Perfect. Our flight gets in a little after 9 in the morning so I'm hoping to get to the hotel by 11-11:30 so I'll make sure she gets a button there before we head out :)

We just spent a week there for my daughter's 5th birthday. Like others said, at most table service resturants they brought her a dessert and sometimes a card signed by characters if it was a character location. If it was not noted on your reservation, make sure to tell them when you check in, the server may not notice the button, but they will print it on your check in ticket and that will tip the server to order the dessert (which is almost always a cupcake with mickey sprinkles)

In MK, I got a grey stuff cupcake at Be Our Guest! I know you said MK, but if you happen to be dining one day at Le Cellier in Epcot, they may get a chocolate mousse moose! I also received a vanilla ice cream churro mouse at La Hacienda de San Angel (hysterically it looked exactly like my pup, pictured in my avatar - blackberry nose and all!). Nothing is guaranteed of course, but it was really fun! I wear mine all week when I go for my birthday. Off topic but twin boys are awesome - I have twin nephews turning 9 next month and they are just the best! (That may also have something to do with the fact we are a very girl-majority family.) Happy birthday to your boys!

If you let them know on your resort reservation they will have the birthday button ready when you sign in, that way it will be a surprise to the boys that Disney knew it was their birthday. We do this all the time and they already have the pin ready with our check in documents. As well as what everyone else stated, make sure it is noted on ADRs, it's not guaranteed that they will receive anything but they will say happy birthday.

Yep, they have buttons. Can't wait, because we are celebrating my birthday at WDW in a few weeks!

My experience is they usually give birthday buttons at resort check in. My son wears it the entire trip (he loves all the "happy birthdays"). Some restaurants give cupcakes with candles so we can sing to him, or cards with character signatures. Usually the day before his actual birthday I decorate the room with decorations I bring from home (the room packages are too rich for our blood -I'd rather spend that money elsewhere). Disney birthdays are so fun!

Also be sure to ask the person that is writing on the button to cover it with scotch tape. If they don't cover it, the sharpie will wipe right off. Most CMs know to do this but if they don't just ask. It saves you from smudges and stains.

I celebrated my birthday on our honeymoon last year. They gave me both buttons at check in, but they were readily available at many spots in any of the parks. Also, at check in, we each received one balloon. One congrats and one happy birthday. Through the rest of the week we were there the responses were varied though.
