Thinking about going to WDW for DS birthday. I hear they get special treatment, has anyone ever been?

We have been during my birthday, my DH's and my 2 DD's (DS's is in June- aint gonna happen ever!!). We let them know about DD's and they got balloons in the room with an autographed card. They also had confetti and specially signed placemats at the character meals we went to (Chef Mickeys and CRT). They brought them cupcakes (even at our CRT breakfast) for a treat. We also got the birthday buttons and they were often told by CM's and vacationers Happy Birthday!! One CM gave my youngest DD a pin from his lanyard. Go ahead and let them know at the resort and when you make your ADR's. Also remind them at check in for your meals to make sure. Get a button in the parks. Now they put the childs name on it. The CM's call you by name and say Happy Birthday!

Make sure that you go to the information center in the parks and you will receive a free button for each park that you go to on your birthday to wear that day. All of the CMs of course are very sweet and go out of their way to wish you a Happy Birthday!

Yes they do. When you check in though is a great time to get your bithday button. They will put your DS name on it and then everyone all day will say happy birthday to him when they see his button. Make sure you ASK the front desk to do something for him or they probably won't. At the GF my DD got a solid white chocolate Mickey cookies and a signed card and picture of Cinderella. She also had special autographs! All the characters she saw that day wrote happy birthday when they signed her book. If you want you can also order a specialty cake. Go over to the restaurant section and they'll tell you what to do.

We were at Disney last year for DD's 9th birthday. We picked up a birthday pin that morning at MK. It was great! We were at MK for little ones early magic hours. Minnie as playing ring around the rosie with some girls and my
DD joined in. When Minnie saw her birthday pin, she (or at least the CM) led all the kids in singing happy birthday. We went to 1900 Park Faire for dinner, she got a placemat and a cupcake and some confetti on the table; she was thrilled that Cinderella and Prince Charming both wished her a happy birthday. All day CM's were telling her Happy Birthday, and when she wanted to pin trade with one CM he just gave her a pin instead. The only problem was that her little sister (6 at the time) was so jealous she told me she wanted to go home!

We spent our son's third b-day in Disney. My sister (who is also our TA) made all the arrangements for us. He recieved balloons and an autograph picture of mickey and minnie in our hotel room. He received a special placemat at dinner at Chef Mickey's and had a cupcake with a candle delivered to him. We also set up a birthday party for him in Typhoon Lagoon. We had a private pavillion (when we booked it, they told us we would have it for 2 hours but after we got there, we were told it was ours for the day). We had pizza, soda and cake. There were all little toys on the tables (little cars, puzzles, bugs, stuff like that). The kids got a pail and shovel with their name on it. We had a ball, it was definitely worth it.

We did it for DD10th and DD3rd. It was really magical for them. If you book a dinner make sure you tell them when making the reservation, they will note it and make sure some special happens -it varies by resturant.

DD3 still talks about it.

Just please don't EXPECT something to happen! Just about everyone going there these days seems to be celebrating something or the other. The last few trips we have seen so many Happy Birthday, Happy Anniversary, First Trip, etc. buttons. It can be hard to make the day special for everyone. You can order a cake or your own if you want to make sure something special gets done.

Hope you have fun!

Jill

We've celebrated my last DD's last 2 :bday: at WDW (6 & 7). Even though I mentioned it when I made the room ressies, and in my room preference fax sent 4 days before, other than receiving a special "certificate" upon checking in at one of the resorts, the resort, itself, did nothing special. :confused3 I guess you have to make a special request.

So, last year I brought decorations to put in the room along with a window marker to use on the window (and mirror), and rental van. I didn't want to rely on the resort to acknowledge her :bday:. That being said, she still had a great time! She wore her Birthday button for a few days and was greeted with "Happy Birthdays" everywhere we went. She was wished a HB by Goofy (on the phone) several times. Several CMs had noticed her button and said she had a phone call. During the 2 times we were there, this happened at Epcot Guest Relations, the lobby of Brown Derby, and in Mousegears at Epcot.

Also, she got special desserts, at the TS restaurants, we ate at. California Grill even had everyone sing to her! She loved it! :cloud9: .

She had a couple of great birthday moments, all of which (other than my doing room decorations) were random events. :wizard:

Have a great time! (don't forget to get those buttons!)
