My oldest DS10 will be in Disney (probably MK) on his birthday. It just works out this way for our vacation. I think there are some special things but what are they? :confused3

Also I have DS8 and DD6 and wouldn't want them to feel left out. Should I not say anything to CM's or do they include all kids in some way? :confused3

We went last Sept. for both my DD 6th birthday and my mom's birthday. They both fell during our stay. I was disappointed-I mentioned the birthdays when I made reservations and on my room request fax 4 days before we went. The only thing POFQ did was include a magical certificate with our information packet on check-in. Not even a balloon in the room for my DD. We ate at CG for my mom's birthday (again I made sure they knew it was a special occassion) and again was disappointed. Other than having Happy Birthday written on her cake (which was included as dessert with our DDP anyway) NOTHING was done. I was extremely disappointed. Especially after noticing that when the table next to us was set up, they sprinkled mickey confetti all over it and as far as I could tell, the two couples seating there weren't celebrating anything. Maybe, it's up to your server. Ours was just okay-maybe he felt that since we were on the DDP he didn't have to go the extra distance, he's guaranteed 18% tip. Even though the food was good, and the view from the deck was awesome for the fireworks (the windows of the restaurant were covered in condensation) we probably won't go back just because I had expected a little extra "magic" and got nothing-I was almost in tears, because I had built this up to my mom as her special meal. And of course it did cost 2 TS each.

Luckily, I had brought a few things to decorate our room including a window marker which I used to write on our mirrors-Happy Birthday-and still nothing special in our room-we didn't even get any of those "towel" animals.

The one thing that did go well was when we stopped by at Guest Relations in Epcot on my DD birthday (on our way to princess lunch) to get a "It's my birthday" button and the cast member there asked my daughter her name. When she said "Danielle" she said, I think someone was calling here looking for you. She got on the phone and talked to someone and then handed her the phone. The look on my DD face was magical! After she hung up I asked her who it was and she said it was Goofy and he sang Happy Birthday to her-she was very excited!

Like I said, I was disappointed in Disney's response to my DD birthday, especially after reading on these boards the special things some birthday girls have gotten (balloons, signed pictures, etc.) If we are every there again for a special occassion, I won't leave it to chance again-I will have all my own decorations and special items for the room. Maybe order a cake. And I will call the day of my ADR and "request" something extra-a little magic. :grouphug:

Get the pins at the parks for him, at Quest relations.

I am going to turn 45 on my trip to WDW. On the actual day of my birthday, I'm going on the Keys to the Kingdom tour. I did mention during the booking that it was my birthday on that day . What are the odds of getting anything special for me? Or do they only tend to do things for younger children :confused3 ?

Fozzie, I hope they tend to the older ones. My DH is taking me for my 33rd birthday in June and I am so excited. :bounce: :Pinkbounc

If you want something special for an occasion you should arrange and pay for something. Many many people are celebrating something special when they go to WDW that they can't do it for everyone.

You can pay for a cake at a restaurant and they will bring it out to the table.

Stop at guest relations at all the parks. They have birthday buttons. You may just get wished a happy birthday but I always enjoyed that. The Goofy phone call is fun too.

This is a great thread, when we go my neice will be celebrating her b day i plan on doing the character dinner but now that i know we can go to guest relations for a birthday button thats really nice, anything they can do will be greatly appreciated but i plan to at least pay for the dinner so i know that is guranteed.

We went during my moms bday 2 years ago. We asked at the front desk (at POP) if there is anything special we could do for her, and they said they would take care of it. When we got back in to our room that day, there were 3 baloons and a hand signed card, and photo from mickey and minnie.

We also got the buttons from all 4 parks at guest relations.

We are gong in June and my twins will turn 4 at the end of that month. I told the lady when we made our ADR's, and she suggested making the whole week a birthday celebration. So she listed it on each of our ADR's and made a note for the POP, where we are staying. She also told me to get the birthday buttons and have them wear them all week.
